Another great article, Kev. That match was so great and I'm glad it's getting the love it deserves.

I'm gonna have to very strongly disagree. Lita and Trish main eventing Raw in 2003 is the equivalent of Nikki Bella and Paige main eventing in 2015. Think about that. Honestly, she's better. Nothing the early 2000's divas ever did even compares to the NXT women's division. Until Becky Lynch pushes Sasha Banks through a table off of a ladder, followed by them main eventing the top show years later, this quote has no truth what so ever. Hell, they have to step in the cage (Lita vs Victoria) before they can even be considered on that era's level let alone better. On topic, Sasha Banks is probably the best female WWE has right now, besides Paige. I'm gonna have to very strongly disagree. I mean, as Old Spice said, headlining Raw in 2003 is a major accomplishment even though the match doesn't top the NXT girls. Im not taking away from Trish and Lita, it was a very good match that deserves to Main Event Raw, but quality wise it wasn't even close to Sasha vs Becky. And also, to say that they need to start doing a bunch of hardcore crap to be considered better is just WAY wrong. They DON'T need to do that stuff and are still better. Again, not taking away from Trish, Lita, Victoria etc. But nothing they did can compare to the masterpiece that Sasha and Becky put on. Also, awesome article Kev.

Oh yeah, Spice and I agree that quality wise, Trish and Lita didn't outdo the NXT girls. But headlining Raw is a massive deal. I agree on the hardcore stuff too though.

We've all said that Sasha vs Becky is far superior to Trish vs Lita in terms of the wrestling itself, but Trish vs Lita is bigger than Sasha vs Becky because of how important it was and is in terms of doing things for women's wrestling. From 1996-the early 2000s, Divas were just looked at as sexual objects. Trish and Lita wrestling in the main event of Raw changed the face of female wrestling forever. That's why it's bigger than Sasha-Becky.

And even though Trish vs Lita main eventing Raw was important, which is certainly was, did it really change the face of woman's wrestling forever? Because as soon as Trish and Lita were gone, the quality of the divas division took a major nosedive.

I knew Sasha was good and very underrated after watching her over the past year and a half. Tonight she showed how damn good she is. This woman is the perfect heel, she is money, she is the F#$king Boss Jesus Christ, your sig is huge. anyway, Sasha vs Becky was the match I decided to skip because I was short on time whilst watching it. Feels like a mistake now though, I'll get to it eventually. Nice report, you can tell you're a huge fan of both.

The Women's division took a nosedive, yes, and didn't really take off again until 2009-10, but Divas weren't just pieces of butt after that point. WWE actually started looking for wrestlers instead of models after that (see Natalya, Beth Phoenix, AJ, Paige, and many more). I genuinely believe if that match never took place, women's wrestling would be very very different today.

Fair point, sorry if it came off differently. Thing is I never really said anything about importance. I genuinely believe if that match never took place, women's wrestling would be very very different today. I agree that the match was important, but I don't think that match honestly influenced the buisness that much considering they honestly were still just looked at as pieces of ass after that. Bikini contests and bra and panties math he's were still prevalent, and at WrestleMania 21 and 23, the Women's Championship challengers were two girls who had no place in that position and were only in the match to help sell their edition of Playboy. At WrestleMania 24 they had a Playboy Bunny Lumberjack match. At WrestleMania 22 they had Trish vs Mickie which was awesome, but they also had Torrie vs Candice in a Playboy Pillow Fight. To me, the NXT women's division is more important because while Trish and Lita proved they can Main Event Raw and have a good match, the NXT women have proved that they can steal the show from the men on high profile shows. To me, that's a much more important accomplishment.

Regardless, I respect your opinion and you're more than entitled to it.

Fantastic article Big Kev. I really enjoyed reading that. We talked about me not being entirely impressed with Becky after that four way a couple months ago but that girl turned me into a huge fan Wednesday night.

Becky vs Banks was my favorite match of the year so far. My god, if anyone isn't a Becky fan and a Banks fan by now, you're insane! I knew Becky had something in her, and it showed. The fans singing her entrance music was beautiful.
Banks has nonstop proved why she's the best. Her in ring work is fantastic. On the mic, she can get everyone in the palm of her hand. Her persona makes you believe it's actually her. Stamping autographs is just hilarious and so out there, just backs up her gimmick. Shes one of the bests in the world right now. If the build is right and she has the right opponent, I can see her Main Eventing Wrestlemania, or at least second to last.. I hope it'll come true because she can tear the house down.

Right, just watched the match, and hate to be the negative one but damn you guys overhyped this. Yeah, I get it was good, especially for a divas match, but I was expecting so much more..I get its cool to like all the technical chit, but all the stuff on Beckys are was fairly boring. It was good, but you guys are saying it was better than it was imo. Good, but a match of the ing year contender? Nope. That's just my opinion though, I'm glad you all enjoyed it, the more wrestling you enjoy the better, right?
