The people saying it was a plant are stupid. It was clearly a human. It even moved.

I too think it was a coincidence and Cena was pure class for pointing him out and improvising. Kudos to Cena!

I'm going to preface this by saying I think what Cena did was incredibly kind, and it meant the world to that kid. Those were as real as tears get and you can't help but believe in fighting when confronted with a fighter, especially one that is so young.
That being said, the promo was extremely incoherent imo. A big part of that doesn't matter because it made the kids day, but from a purely entertainment standpoint, what Cena was saying made absolutely no sense. John Cena just got pinned in the middle of the ring by Kevin Owens at EC. Kevin Owens did exactly what he said he was going to do, kayfabe or not. Cena claimed he was going to hand over the US Title until Owens made fun of his t-shirts? The WWE Universe tells Cena he sucks every single week, but when Kevin Owens does it, the guy who just cleanly "kicked his ass," he's not a man?
Kevin Owens opened up the floodgates of feuding when he told the audience his son was a Cena fan. There were a million directions Cena could have gone at that point. Instead, intentional or not, he started talking about fighting for the Make-A-Wish kids, which literally had nothing to do with anything involving the feud and had absolutely nothing to do with Kevin Owens not being a man.
Wrestling is a very simple program, but what Cena said on Monday doesn't make me want to watch two guys fight. It reminds me to keep donating to the Children's Hospital every year. It also handcuffed Kevin Owens. There was absolutely nothing he could respond with because Cena wasn't talking about the feud. I understand that Cena is some form of hero to children, of all walks of life, and I think that's amazing. However, I don't really want to see that leveraged into a feud for absolutely no reason.
Daniel Bryan, at any point in time, could have used the Connor the Crusher story as a feud builder heading into WrestleMania against the Authority. He didn't though because there is a definitive gap between reality and story. The story was Bryan overcoming HHH's mountain of obstacles to win the title, the reality was the hug he shared with Connor after the match, which was as precious of a moment I think I've ever seen in wrestling. I don't know, I just think there is a time and place for all of that and working it into a promo in the middle of Raw makes for almost uncomfortable TV imo.
Ultimately, the kid went home happy, with hope, and I think that entirely supersedes the continuity of the show. I'm just being totally honest though in saying that from a traditional feud building standpoint, I had absolutely no idea what the hell point John Cena was trying to make.

I swear to god, though, John Cena could find the cure to cancer and create world peace, but people would still say that it was planned by Vince.

I think it was real and it was a very cool thing for Cena to do. You could tell the kid and his mother were fighting back tears as soon as Cena acknowledged them. It was nice. I had to fight back some tears myself. Me too.

We might bash Cena a lot for his cheesy gimmick that has been going on for years, but the dude has a one of a kind heart and is just a great soul.

Then we'd just ask them where their Adam Rose t-shirt is and how much they love the Funkasaurus. Monday was some great stuff by Cena and Owens. Really enjoying their story.

I don't know, I don't really think it was as incoherent as you're making it out to be. Owens brought up his kid right? Saying that he looked up to Cena as a super hero. Which would naturally prompt Cena to point out the kid in the crowd who looks at Cena as if he was a real life super hero too. Which brought Cena to say "never give up, HLR" because it's not just words. It means something to that little kid (and Owens son, who KO brought up in the first place). When you look at it that way, I think the whole thing made perfect sense. Regardless I thought it was a great promo on both guys end. One of the better back forth promos in recent memory for me. Owens is just golden, from what he says to his simple facial reactions. And as others said, when Cena was getting fired up about the kid, I too was fighting back tears. This is a great feud. Looking forward to see how it plays out

Definitely not a plant and I dont think it was from Make A Wish. I think it was a legit kid just sitting in the arena with his/her sign. I've been to many events, and Cena has 'recognized' kids with apparent struggles who are placed in that same section. I'm sure they were connected with WWE through some form, because the production staff brought them right to Cena.

I think he or she was a Make-A-Wish kid. On the sign it showed John Cena's and Ryback's autograph. Ryback wasn't included in the segment between Cena and Owens though. Maybe it wasn't a Make-A-Wish child. Probably during commercial break or after the show Ryback and Cena autographed the sign with the inclusion of bringing the child in the ring. The child was probably there by luck or from Make-A-Wish foundation. I loved the segment by the way.

Naw, he was using non-gender specific terms. Cena made that kids life just then so mad respect.

I understand that Cena probably made that kid's year. The kid was happy and that's awesome! Other than that, I was offended by this segment. It makes me really mad that John Cena brings Make A Wish Kids and Soldiers into his character. I understand what he is doing is nice, but why can't he keep his charity private? When him and the WWE exploit his charity and bring it onto TV that automatically makes them part of a storyline (in my eyes at least). One problem, he isn't fully over. To me, I see this as an exploitation of the make a wish kids who go through hell and who's parents go through hell to try and beat cancer. Cena just exploits that as part of a story-line, or to try and get himself over. It makes me sick. All due respect to the make a wish kid last night, Her night was made. But the way I see it and the way others see it are completely different. Especially since that article that Justin Roberts put out about WWE exploiting Connor the Crusher to make their company look better. Just my opinion.

It's was a nice moment. I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it. And I'm sure the kid was the happiest they've ever been. That's all that matters.
