I was at Target this afternoon and saw the new set of create/build a superstar. What do you think about them? They had John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Hulk Hogan, and some other ones listed on the back. Do you think these will sell well?

In a word, no! Maybe the Hogan and Wyatt, but it's a novelty thing, the marvel equivalents are showing up in my local clearance/discount stores

I hope the Triple H one which is to be released has a decal for trunks from 2000. This would be the perfect opportunity for it.

The 7 year old me loves them. The 27 year old me likes the concept but wouldn't buy one.

Cancelled, clearanced, replaced with another gimmick, just like all the rest.

It's a totally new concept for wrestling figs. I hope they stay.

Don't see why they wouldn't. Kids seem to love the Marvel Mashers.

It's the wrestling toy I've always wanted.
I hope the line continues and expands. I'd like to see gimmick packs and more non-specific heads.
Think about it, you could give Superstars whatever gimmick you want!!!
I would make Viscera an adult baby, and I'd call him Baby Huey.

I had the chance to take them right out of the case and I passed.

The problem with these vs mashers is theses are like $14 and mashers are like $7-8 when i see them. I would still prefer the basic. Stackdown is the line they should have had. Missed the mark there

They're for kids and that's cool. More for playing etc. I can see customizers wanting them too but overall they're more for the kiddos I think.

I grabbed the hulkster. I like the idea, but they dont feel the same as the basics and elites. They feel cheap so for that reason, im out.

SO much potential here but alas, Mattel is missing the boat again. If they would package real, elite parts and accessories that customizers could use to make variants of their favorite wrestlers, it would sell like hotcakes.

I'd like them more if all the accessory parts were equal to Elite accessories in terms of quality. Namely, there's no paint application to any of them. Really though, the only way I'd be compelled to cop one is if it has an exclusive head sculpt like the hogan and cena. Or if there was a character specific accessory that was exclusive like I was afraid brays apron was gonna be until we saw the latest elite 36 protos. The mask is something he actually wore that I doubt will be coming with any other fig but I think I can live with out it. So far it's just hogan for me. Hopefully they do more flashbacks.

As someone else said, I love the concept, but the execution isn't perfect.

Every time Mattel comes out with something new, there is inevitably a group of people who go "kids are going to love these, they're not for you!" And then they fail. Rumblers (which I loved by the way), FlexForce, wrestling buddies (which was piss poor lineup selection imo), Power Slammers, Slam City, hell even the dollar store toys are done and I thought those were awesome too.
I just don't see the demand being there for these. If the parts matched up with Elites, I think it would have been brilliant because then you double dip on collectors and average consumers. Because they seemingly don't, you're not going to have the collector market. That collector market is the same one who buys 6 Yokozuna figures to have 6 sets of belts, or 6 Hogans to make a custom of every version they ever loved. It's a missed opportunity and I expect these to be a memory in under two years.

This would be cool if they were actual figure parts....but you can't use them on Basics or Elites, soooooo there's not really much I can do with them.

While aimed at kids they really do not provide a much cheaper alternative for parents to a good ol $10 basic, and I can't see kids bugging for them. When I was a kid, when I wanted a Batman, I wanted a Batman, not arctic scuba gear Batman, or some other craziness. I wanted wrestlers who looked like the ones on TV, not ones in gladiator armor.
^Me from a different thread on this topic.
