I missed the Dusty Rhodes tribute they showed, and I just watched it & tbh it was really touching. The feels are real...

Flair Forever posted that Honky Tonk man told him that Dusty had stomach cancer and that WWE kept it quite...Reading this excerpt from Flair's interview, makes me wonder if there might be something to that... I posted in that thread about Ric Flair and Jim Ross taking about him. They were on Busted Open last Friday. Apparently he'd been sick with various illnesses over the past few years.

If I ever die...I really want WWE to take family footage of me and make a tribute video...Damn they ace these things every time. Doesnt matter if its for death, retirement or whatever.

I'm slightly irritated with it. Yeah everything seems well done, but only three highlights during raw. Only one special. They had all weekend to put together highlights. They barely interviewed anyone from NXT and all the special was was a handful of new interviews and clips from his old DVD. They could do more for a guy who gave us so much.

Yea, I too was disappointed with the Dusty Rhodes "Celebrate The Dream" special. I had just watched the DVD the night that he passed away - the "special" was mostly just pulled clips from that with new intros from Lawler, who I didn't even know what that close do Dusty.... so I had pretty much memorized the whole special before it even aired. Not nearly the effort they put into the Warrior's tributes.... this felt really slapped together. Maybe there will be an extended DVD release down the road? And YEA.... only THREE HIGHLIGHTS during Raw. In three hours, they only had three clips from Dusty's storied career. If I recall, I was disappointed when they did the same thing with Warrior. I absolutely LOVE the "Ragin' Fire" music montage though, another fine piece by WWE..... I really wish they'd put their resources into building some of the newer talent with music montages like this...... they used to do the "My Sacrifice" videos, they were awesome!

I really wish they'd put their resources into building some of the newer talent with music montages like this...... they used to do the "My Sacrifice" videos, they were awesome! It was much different for Warrior actually. I was at his tribute show and every segment basically had something to do with him. Plus they handed out commemorative masks to everyone in the crowd. Then the network had warrior week. Dusty has way more than three clips that they could have used. Plus.. Why reshow his DVD and add a few new interviews. Dusty did more for wrestling than 99% of the wrestlers who have died in the last ten years and it just all really seemed rushed and thrown together. I also didn't know he and Lawler were that close so that bothers me a little also. I had hoped they talked to so many more NXT talents for that special last night. Surely they plan to do more for him as he gave his entire life to the business and gave us so much of his life over the last 30+ years.

I've waited a bit to pop in on here after Dusty's passing...a few of you have messaged me through various means to check in. I'm going to repost what I wrote up on Facebook (with a few minor edits) the night Dusty passed because I'm still not quite able to process this completely.

I just watched the video build up and the match from Battleground 2013: Goldust & Cody with Dusty Rhodes vs. The Shield. Just as enjoyable now as it was then...RIP Dusty...the Rhodes family had the crowd rocking that night!

Sam Roberts had Corey Graves on his podcast this week to talk about Dusty. It was a great conversation, definitely recommended for those that want to hear about Dusty's involvement with NXT.
