Not really too sure what my favorite Dusty moment/story is. Here's a bit of a list.
The Muffler Story How much he's helping the NXT guys and girls That Battleground Bionic Elbow on Ambrose which was the only good thing about that show. Every Talk Is Jericho guest that had a story on Dusty doing an impression. How he was able to make polka dots actually work Texas Bullrope matches How he's given us two incredibly talent wrestlers that'll carry on the Rhodes legacy Being one of, if not the best, promo guys in the wrestling world. The famous "Hard Times" promo. Horsemen vs. Dusty Working as NXT GM in its first year (2012).
This is just scratching the surface, but it's how I'll always remember him. Thank you Dusty.

As I am typing this, I am listening to "Common Man Boogie". Dusty Rhodes will forever go down as one of the all-time greats. My heart just hurts knowing that we won't see him ever on TV again.
I can already see the Mixed Tag Match from WrestleMania VI being recreated on heaven.

I am glad this was created!
The first real memory I have of Dusty Rhodes was in 1988, I was 7 years old then, and NWA was on TV during a Saturday afternoon at like 2 pm or 3 pm. But I remember it was a bit after Barry Windham had turned on Lex Luger to join the Horsemen (which is my first real memory of NWA) and Dusty was in the ring with JJ Dillon, and Barry Windham came into the ring and put a claw hold on him and Dusty started to bleed from it. I remember thinking how horrible and graphic that was - but then I was also 7 years old at the time.
But Dusty always entertained me, he was never one of my top favourite wrestlers of all time, but I did enjoy him in the ring and on the microphone.
R.I.P. Dusty, we all will miss ya greatly!!

I wasn't even that big of a fan of his, but this news hit me. That to me shows the impact this man had. It was just an elbow to the head, but when you see it's his elbow.. boy it meant something. I really hope Cody and Goldust are coping with this and see all the love pouring in from everyone. A true, true great.

Easily one of the best promo men of all time. His WWE theme is still one of my all time favorites. He's a true legend and his impact on wrestling will live forever.

For me, my first experience of Dusty Rhodes, was the polka dot run in the WWF. Like anyone that's part of the business or a fan of it will say, any one else, that would have been a low point, but for Dusty, he made the look work, he pulled it off. Once, I was able to then find out more of his career outside of the WWF run, I got to realize, how great he really was. Then when his DVD came out, I learned of his early run in the company, and the matches with Superstar Billy Graham. He really was the example of how a successful wrestling character is just an extension of the wrestler himself. He worked as 'the common man,' because that's what he was. Even at his height of fame, he was still, that common man, and a big part in why people loved him. I loved his run in ECW too, when he feuded with Steve Corino, culminating in the bullrope match. While the feud was all Dusty, I think it helped play a good role, and making Corino a star. He's another talent from an era where wrestlers could shoot from the hip, come up with gold, from nothing more than their wit, and quick thinking. He could could pull off the serious promo like hard times one minute, and the very next, having your sides hurting from laughing.

I haven't seen a lot of his in ring work. That said, on the tag team DVD they did a few years ago they have a match from The Crockett Cup between Rhodes/Koloff and Blanchard/Liger that's pretty good and has the emotional moment of the faces hugging Magnum TA before the match.

We have to be honest about one thing though, Dusty got over by stealing this man's gimmick and interview, it's been well noted that Dusty got everything from Thunderbolt Patterson
It is freaky how much they sound a like!

I wasn't exactly a fan of his because he was just way before my time but I wanted to post this video of Battleground 2013 The Rhodes Family vs The Shield it was a great moment for the Rhodes Family.

The only thing I never cared for was his nWo turn. It was odd, made no sense, and served no purpose.

Dusty truly was ahead of his time. He created my most favourite gimmick match - War Games the Match Beyond - and it was legendary! Hard to believe a young impressionable Ric Flair was his bag boy back in the mid 70s What a legend.

The American Dream is truly a Legend - and he MADE himself a legend! let's be honest - he did not have the look of a wrestling superstar. with the blonde curly hair, deep sunken eyes, overweight body, and the infamous splotch, he was as far from what pro wrestling was going towards, especially in the 80's. yet he became one of the mos popular, most beloved wrestlers of all time. his promo's were legendary. his ability to entice REAL, GENUINE EMOTION out of an audience is unparalleled. when he bled, people cried. when he lost, they fainted. when he was attacked, they jumped in to help him. witness the infamous night when Dusty came down to help Ric Flair, after he was being attacked after a steel cage match, and the Horsemen came out and beat the hell out of Duty, "breaking" his leg. as Arn Anderson recollected, the fans SWARMED over the barricades, they literally were pushed up against the cage, blocking the door shut, and were climbing UP the cage in an attempt to rescue Duty and attack the Horsemen! it was, literally, a riot, with Flair and Co. having to fight through hundreds of fans to get out of the arena. THAT'S how much the fans loved Dusty.

The most popular wrestler for the NWA representing JCP for their most financially lucrative time of the promotion for the 80's. He made me believe.
Try and check out his early 90's promo against Arn, calling him a 'walk behinder', and talkin' straight talk to Dustin....powerful stuff.
The only man Hogan feared could eclipse his popularity during his heyday.

Great Thread JokerFC Dusty was one of the best promos of all time. Few are/were on his level and he was a great worker especially since he was a heavier guy.
