Hey,
I have a little problem. I bought 3 Jakks figures from ebay and they smell a bit like smoke (cigarette)... Does anyone know/have some tips, what should I do?? :/

People say cover them in Baking Soda, but that rarely works properly.
I've heard you can transfer the smell to another plastic, by placing them in a brand new tupperware tub. Maybe get 3 or a large one for all of them, close the lid and leave them for a couple days.
Then throw the tubs away unless you can use them for something (like screws, nails etc in the garage) that won't matter if the contents is in a smoke-smelling container. Cos that's what you'll end up with.

yeah, ur  ed. Thats why i never buy from or trade with smokers, its disgusting, it stinks, gets on other items, etc. you may not care that you and your belongings smell like smoke, but i do and dont want mine smelling that way. |

I recently bought a BAF Teddy Long that was the worst smoke-tainted item I've ever experienced. It smelled to the point of gagging without even getting close to it. I propped him in front of the AC for a day (like literally on the vents lol) and the smells completely gone. Worked like a charm, but I'll never buy from a smoker again.

I believe that the person making the comment meant that "You" in the "You may not care" was a reference to the seller not caring about how the seller or the seller's belongings smelled, not a reference to "you", the thread maker. Anyway, I have heard of several things. One is to use baby wipes although I would think there would be some slickness or film that you would then have to wash off with soap and water. Another is to put the figures in a sealed container large enough to hold the figures and an open zip lock bag. The bag would hold a scented dryer sheet. The explanation was that the dryer sheet would put a film on the figure if it was in contact with the figure that would be difficult to get off which is why it is in the open zip lock bag. Keep it in there a few days before checking on it. |

Just put the figure in a large ziplock bag with a few dryer sheets for a week.. make sure its a smell you like because it will stick with the figure for awhile. But the smoke smell should be gone.

It's a b**ch to get the smell of smoke off a figure. I've had 2 figures in the past that smelled and was never able to get the smell off. My dog accidentally chewed one of them and I just put the other figure in the garage. Anyways I was able to get the smell of some figures boxes though.
