What would you book differently and explain what you would do here's my first Summer of Punk First Punk would beat Cena. Punk then leaves WWE for 4 to 5 months. At summerslam a open tournament for the wwe title is made with Cena winning. Alberto cashes in and wins the title. Night of Champions main event is alberto vs cena for the title with a double countout ending the match. Hell in a cell cena del rio fight with alberto retaining because of ricardo getting in the cell and hitting cena with the wwe strap. At vengeance cena and del rio fight over the title in a I Quit match cena wins. cena then has a rubber match with del rio for the title at survivor series cena wins with a almost broken arm. Del rio continues to hit cenas arm with a chair Until. The signature static of cult of personality hits and Cm punk walks to the ring with the real belt. Sits next to broken cena and raises his title pay per view ends. On Raw cm punk sits in the ring and demands a match with cena at TLC for both titles. Triple H comes out starts saying that wouldn't work your not the champion cena is blah blah blah. Cena comes out and also demands the match triple books it. Then Alberto del rio comes out and demands a rematch so triple H set up a triple threat TLC match for the undisputed wwe championship. At tlc punk wins and has his reign and then at royal rumble cena wins the rumble but he has to fight rock. then BOOM triple threat at WM 28 with punk barely winning from throwing rock out and pinning cena. THE END

If I was in the WWE in 2011 as a creative writer I wouldn't even want there to be a Summer of Punk. Because ROH already did the same storyline in 2005 when CM Punk won the ROH Title from Austin Aries and was going to take it to the WWE and give it to Vince McMahon. He even signed the WWE contract on the ROH Title!
The WWE version in 2011 was very watered down and only lasted a total of.... 8 days! Where as ROH had it last around 3 months.

I went to Wrestlemania 29, and initially walking out of MetLife I was like "Wow that was one of the best 'Manias ever!" because I still had the mental high of going to Wrestlemania. Then I re-assessed, especially after going to the Raw after, and we coulda had so much better. So in the spirit of all things rebooking, let's rebook the build to Wrestlemania 29: First off, CM Punk walks into the event still WWE Champion. No reason he shouldn't have been, no reason he shouldn't have had a WM main event. Woulda been day 504, if I calculated correctly. He beats Rock at the Rumble and Cena wins like real life. At EC, we get Punk/Sheamus for the title and Rock/Cena for Cena's title shot. Have the Shield come out and beat both down: double DQ. Save us from the finisher-fest that was Cena/Rock II and make it a three-way for the title. Have Cena pin Rock, avenging his loss from last year and winning the title from Punk, who looks strong afterward. Cena vanquishes the two biggest thorns in his side in the biggest main event of Wrestlemania lore. Where does that leave 'Taker? Have him face Brock then instead of waiting a year. it, Brock wins here too. He lost his return to Cena and vows to not lose again. That starts with breaking HHH's arm at Summerslam. He challenges Undertaker and he beats him. No one expects it, and he can ride the wave of momentum into Summerslam, where he dethrones Cena. From there replace Orton with Brock and there's your Wrestlemania XXX main event too. Also, Triple H doesn't need to wrestle here, he doesn't need to be on the card, it's okay. Make it look like Brock ended his career. Have him come back at Survivor Series 2013 and challenge (unsuccessfully) for Brock's title). Yay, Del Rio wins the World Title. He defends it inside the Elimination Chamber. IMMEDIATELY after the match, Dolph cashes in and wins. Jericho becomes #1 contender (I don't wanna flat-out say he wins contendership in the Chamber because that'd mean there were two WHC-related chamber matches). Build revolves around Jericho wanting to exact revenge for Dolph terminating his contract after Summerslam. Here's Dolph's Wrestlemania singles match. Team Hell No needs some formidable heels to challenge for the belts. Big Show is challenger #1; puts him on the show without giving him a three-week face run like real life. An obvious choice for partner is Mark Henry but that would leave Bryan without a dude he could go back-and-forth with. Enter United States Champion Antonio Cesaro, who gets his Wrestlemania debut and a viable opponent (for half the match) in Bryan. He'd lose the US belt at Extreme Rules in a triple threat with Ambrose and Kofi. The Shield needs a match. Orton and Sheamus make up two-thirds, but Show is off fighting for the tag titles. Alberto Del Rio could viably be the third man, especially if WWE was hellbent on keeping the dude face. Ryback vs. Mark Henry. Only with the Big Guy actually hitting ShellShocked and winning. Are there any ways I can have an IC Title defense without putting The Miz in the spotlight of it? If it is alright with you, I'd return the championship scramble. Barrett, Miz, Kofi, Jack Swagger (with Real American propaganda), and Christian (assuming he was healthy by then? I don't remember). Barrett or Swagger wins and saves the world from a 24-hour Miz reign. And the pre-show can be Rhodes Scholars/Bellas vs. Tons of Funk/Funkadactyls. tl;dr, the updated Wrestlemania 29 card would look like: Triple Threat Match for the WWE ChampionshipCM Punk (c) vs. John Cena vs. The Rock Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker Singles Match for the World Heavyweight ChampionshipDolph Ziggler (c) vs. Chris Jericho Tag Team match for the WWE Tag Team ChampionshipsTeam Hell No (c) vs. Big Show & Antonio Cesaro (Team Swiss Alps) The Shield vs. Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton & Sheamus Mark Henry vs. Ryback Championship Scramble Match for the Intercontinental ChampionshipWade Barrett (c) vs. Christian vs. Jack Swagger vs. Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz Pre Show: 8-Person Mixed Tag Team MatchThe Bella Twins & Rhodes Scholars vs. The Funkadactyls & Tons of Funk

Because I'm bored and want to fantasy book a little bit, my version of the Summer of Punk:
Punk wins and he's gone. He does exactly what he said he'd do. He has this belt hostage and for a reason that could've made up (legal issues, board of directors don't want two belts especially with one on a guy that won't shut up for them) they can't crown a new champion. Punk is sent by the WWE over into indies (ROH, the WWN network, overseas to NJPW, any indies they deem fit) and he doesn't even have to wrestle. He can simply cut promos, but if they so choose they could have someone Eddie Edwards or Davey Richards or even guys like Daniels or Generico in ROH work up to a match with him. The NJPW route could lead to the Tanahashi/Punk dream match, or a match with Suzuki. Heck, in Evolve you could have Gargano/Punk even. But like I said, he can even just cut promos and defend the title maybe once or twice.
Meanwhile, on WWE, Triple H makes lemons out of lemonade and decides that if we can't have our WWE Title, then the World Heavyweight Championship, a championship he took pride in holding, will become elevated to a whole new level. He announces the title vacant, but gives Christian a bye into the semis, and makes this an eight person tournament. Doesn't really matter who else is in, I'd have Cena overcome the odds and win the vacant belt. From there things continue on as regularly as possible without a major belt. The biggest thing is that this Punk watch makes WWE.com huge. They are the one stop shop for everything Punk. The thing is, they can just make up sightings too. They seem to be the most in the know people, because they are. Everywhere Punk goes, they're there too. Punk going over to NJPW? You leak the news that there was an "anonymous source" that saw Punk get on a plane to Japan. Punk heading to New York? Footage of him holding the belt filling his car with gas. Hell, to add incentive, HHH still wants that belt so he tells Del Rio that his MITB is null and void unless the cash-in is on Punk. Boom, instant web hits as there's a camera crew following Del Rio around.
So it's September. Quick frame of reference, Death Before Dishonor is on the 17th, Night of Champions is on the 18th, G1 Climax Day 11 is the 19th, but that one isn't important. Over maybe a two week span, Punk can appear on two ROH Wrestling programs, cut some hype for champion vs. champion, Davey accepts. It's almost too perfect as NOC was in Buffalo while DBD was in NYC. Punk and Davey fight to a 45 minute time limit draw, with Punk having the anaconda vice locked as time expires. This makes both guys look fantastic, and shows Punk would've won most likely if there was just a little more time. Enter Del Rio sprinting with a WWE official by his side. ROH announcers make it clear that this is legal. Del Rio goes to cash in, the bell rings, Punk hits a suicide dive before he can step in the ring and gets out of dodge. Official ruling is a no contest, but it's made clear that this is unprecedented for a MITB holder to have a match that ends in a no contest. WWE.com immediately after makes an announcement that HHH will address this at Night of Champions. His announcement is that your show opener and now Del Rio and Daniel Bryan will have a match where the winner can challenge either belt. Del Rio will beat Bryan, sorry D-Bry, and Cena beats Christian and Orton in a triple threat match.
Now we enter into October and there's still no sign of Punk on any WWE programming. Mention is made of what happened at Death Before Dishonor, but that's all. Punk now is able to build to a NJPW title defense, since Punk should be able to win at least once, we'll say it's against MVP. A high enough name in Japan where it's believable (he had just lost the IWGP Intercontinental Championship), yet it won't hurt a major star, plus it'll get some name recognition in the States. The format begins to stray and the rest of the month of October is filled with several random indy promos, just like before the ROH storyline with Davey. Finally, Vengeance arrives, Cena defends his World Heavyweight Title over Christian, Cena is celebrating. But before we fade to black to end the show, the TV viewers at home get static. Just like the intro to Punk's Cult of Personality. This happens again after Raw. It's EXTREMELY important that while he's not on WWE TV, Punk is still in the forefront of every viewer's mind. Plugs for the website, references to him in Cena's promos, HHH's promos, commentary during Del Rio's matches, this is massive. And even more so for November.
In November, Punk falls off the face of the earth. Punk sightings are proven to be false. No more independent dates, nothing in ROH, nothing in New Japan, Punk is gone. The static continues before going off the air. Del Rio finally gives up his obsession with Punk (which in itself could be a side story) and two weeks before Survivor Series Del Rio cashes in on Cena to set up Cena's return match at Survivor Series. This is mostly a device to give Cena a match for Survivor Series and to get MITB off of Del Rio. As Punk sightings stop on WWE.com, the speculation just gets more intense. Survivor Series has arrived, Cena wins (LOL) and now the lights drop. The jumbotron illuminates and the static plays once more and two words play over the PA, "I'm back." and Cult of Personality kicks in, out walks Punk.
From there, Punk wins clean at TLC to unify the world titles into one. Truly anyone can win the Royal Rumble and the build for Wrestlemania against a white-hot Punk would begin. It's a way to have a truly groundbreaking storyline and in the end draw huge attention to your show. I don't even know if this is good, but it was fun to write this.
