Does anyone else feel like the WWE dropped the ball with Wade Barrett back in 2010 with the whole Nexus thing? I mean they had him beat John Cena at Hell In a Cell and never really did anything with him. I feel like he would've made an interesting WWE Champion.. but after he was no longer apart of the Nexus I feel like he just went downhill. Anyone else agree?

While he wasn't booked that well, I feel they really wanted him to be a big deal. However, he also had injuries at really inopportune times and I think that the more recent injuries have basically settled him in midcard hell.

I really enjoy Barrett. He could have been huge after Nexus.

To be fair though they drop the ball with nearly everyone these days so its not just Barrett.
I'd say in the past 5 years or so guys like Ziggler, Barrett, McIntyre, Kofi, Ryback, Cesaro, Swagger, Miz, and Morrison all had one time or another where they should have been pushed to the moon and maintained main event level status.

I totally agree especially with McIntyre, I don't understand stand why Vince built him up as "The Chosen One" when he did nothing throughout that whole gimmick except win the IC.

To me, Wade Barrett has been dead in the water since the Nexus lost at Summerslam five years ago.
The only memorable thing he's done since then is the Bad News gimmick, and even that was only good when he was injured.

WWE had dropped the ball with so many mid card guys all the way back to 2003.
But as for Wade Barrett, I was a fan of his during the Nexus days. As for now, I cringe when he comes on TV. It doesn't help I know I will hear JBL yell "All hail King Barrett!!" and I absolutely hate JBL. But I find Wade boring now. It doesn't help he is in a feud with the 57 year old R-Truth either.

Barrett is awful. The Nexus was a good chance to build him, but they screwed that up. Then he floundered in the mid card doing crap all in The Corre. The only time he has ever been entertaining since the Nexus was when he started the Bad News Barrett gimmick then he got injured for like the 80th time and lost all momentum. The guy is injury prone. As soon as he wins a belt or changes gimmick he gets injured. He is a pure joke these days. Im sure they only keep him to string the UK audience along. He's up there with Kofi in number of useless and forgettable IC title reigns and I see Barett as a liability these days as he seems injury prone. His time has come and gone. It's really not worth investing in him much further. Giving him the King gimmick was ridiculous because he didnt deserve to win he tournament given he has barely won a match in recent memory. They're just leapfrogging off the UK/royal family ties but even that has failed to resurrect his now awful career.

I don't think they dropped the ball with him. The problem is that they can't make up their minds with a gimmick for him

Most definitely. Cena should have put him over back in 2010

Definitely. That being said I don't think he's particularly special in terms of in ring ability or mic work. He's good yes and can cut a decent promo but he's not someone that makes me wanna watch the product. Every feud he's in I always find myself rooting for the other guy for some reason. Like someone else said his time has passed and theres so much good talent coming in that I don't see him being put ahead of them. He should have been champ during his feud with Cena. Would have liked to see what kind of work he could do if he ran with the title.

That moment when he was buried with the steel chairs killed him entirely.

I feel like his entire career has been some sort of bad rib.

Big time. He would have been a good top heel if they pushed The Nexus properly and if he didn't get injured often.

It's a shame what's happened to him. He really seems to be stuck in the pack these days.

There's so many they've dropped the ball with honestly. It's kind've frustrating how much they do it now especially. They need to focus on the people that have longevity.
