I actually really enjoy the "risk" you're talking about Joe. Risk or even better, innovation makes customizing what it is. Doing something noone has done before, like modifying a head a certain way to get a likeness or even resculpting that said head is something that since the birth of realscan, has been pushed to the side and ignored. Customizers like myself, M2K, the dogg, Nibbles, and many others were always coming up with new ideas to make things work. Innovation is really under appreciated now a days, and I'm hoping it'll soon be back.

I agree with a lot of points being made in this thread. There are a lot of good customizers on this board. Unfortunately,some don't get the credit they deserve. In my opinion,if there is no sculpting,it's not a custom. But thats my opinion. Great painting is a plus but great sculpting takes a custom to a whole new level. Great sculpting is awesome but if the painting over that sculpting is mediocre,it really takes away from the custom as a whole. I think that both rome and jsh are great customizers and they should learn from each other. jsh,do you ever study romes technique. rome,do you ever p.m. jsh asking for tips on how to get better sculpts? I think everyone brings a little something different to the table of customizing. I also think that rome should take more chances and try new things. But I understand why he doesn't. On this board,you either get praised,ripped or totally ignored. rome might be the type that doesn't like to get ripped. I myself don't mind the praise and pay attention when I'm being ripped. But I hate to be ignored and thats happening to a lot of good customizers and it's a shame. Sorry if I rambled on too long

jsh is way better then rome at sculpting, didn't you also make a Connor Oberst FHS but then just never finished the rest? The sculpting on the Rorschach fig is ace, I can't wait to see the finished product.

I would of but I couldn't finish my figure, the arms didn't arrive in time....and still haven't arrived. Not to mention brm didn't hand in so it wouldn't have mattered. yea u would have won anyways |

awesome customs, and i agree Rome's painting skills are fantastic, probably the best ive seen on this board, but the fact that you take risks and sculpt things that dont already exist makes you a better customizer imo.
Homicide: looks really good, maybe my favorite Homicide custom
AJ: you point out that Romes painting skills are better but this AJ proves that your painting skills are really high up there, looks ace.
Paul London: love it, the way the London (and Kendrick) should be from the waist down, you should add the beard.
DA Punk: like many have said the painting is not that great, but i just bought the JAKKs DA Punk and i actually prefer yours.
DA Dragon: Dragon is probably one of the hardest guys to make, some customizers just use print outs for the mask but here is where your sculpting skill really shine, it looks great, one of the better dragons ive seen.
Proto ROH Punk: looks good thus far, can't wait to see the finished product.

Bottomline I think customizers nowadays are way to spoiled. Back in the day we didn't have real-scan heads. We had to try and find a head that looked somewhat similar to whoever it was we were trying to make. Even when real-scan did come out some of us still prefered to modify a head then to use a real-scan. jonas  stingray  tinyman  downfall  ^ THOSE are customizers. |

jsh is a risk taker when it comes to customizing all he's trying to see is it's the same old thing with rome sure rome does what he does and does a damn good job at it, however as a customizer you have to be willing to take those risks it would only better yourself as a customizer and that's all jsh is trying to say. Now whether or not rome will take his words to heart or not well that's on him but all I'm saying is chances make champions think about that....that is all.

Yeah I guess I am. I didn't know it was you. Your name had me confused. Never heard of it.
In a sense i do agree with what you are saying..and if this was years ago when Baity and everyone was still around I would probably be agreeing with you completely. But since its like only you, rome, famousj, jay, bartman... representing what true customizing is you can't be having conflicts with customizers. Any of these guys who switch heads around and paint a logo or even worse, use a decal? Yeah I would say give them s***. Because that isn't a custom.

honestly id say that rome really isnt that great. All he basically can do is paint really good and sculpt decently. but thats it. jsh basically does it all. Now i know my customs really arent great but im making a homicide right now too. it wont be as good as yours but o well. and another thing is rome needs to expand his imagination a little bit. Make some indy guys or something like that rather than the regular tna and wwe guys.

I appreciate good sculpting and I appreciate good painting. I think jsh is a cocky "a-hole" but he's good at what he does. I'll never be as good a painter as Rome but I think he's overrated because of all the 10/10 he gets from people who have no idea. Same with anyone.
As I've said before, I've been around here for a while. I remember seeing awesome customs all the time. I was even invited to CEF (during the dying days, sadly) and I wouldn't even call myself a top notch customizer. TxR taught me everything I know and I'm forever grateful to him. He has retired for the time being but I'm hoping he makes a return sooner or later.

So everyone was just like "ummm ok whatever bye" and never came back. But myself and a couple of others wanted to bring it back. But by that time KDR was gone. M2K never came around. Baity was set for life with his talent so I think he gave up customs and started just doing sculptures. So it was like Nibbles, dogg, theXraven(ask him who suggested he shorten his name), me, CK, rookie_sensation, mike elliot and scorpio. Everyone else just kind of left and did their own thing. Which is so sad. Because all of those guys had such amazing talent. Now I see none of them around. But I understand they are all old now. But my lame ass still comes around these forums. |
