My laptop was working fine all morning. I stopped to do some laundry so I turned it off for about 2 hours. Turned it back on and Windows 8.1 loaded up fine. I launched Firefox and it went to Google, my homepage. I then tried going to Twitter and half of the page loaded then everything froze. My mouse would not move the curser. Nothing on the keyboard would function. I waited for ten minutes and did a hard reboot.
I started up again from scratch and it happened again, this time instead of getting my homepage it tried going to an app game on Facebook that was the last thing I was on right before shutting down hours earlier for the laundry. Hard reboot again but I launched IE this time. Using IE I immediately I tried to Google for what could have been the issue. IE was working so I thought it must just be Firefox. But after about ten minutes IE froze also.
I rebooted again. This time I launched Firefox and quickly deleted my History, Cookies and Cache. Since then it seems to be working fine. Going on 45 minutes with no problems. Hopefully this fixed it but I don't see why since IE was acting up also.
MY computer did install a Windows update when I started up after it had been sitting for that few hours.
It might continue to keep working but just in case it freezes again I thought I would try to figure out why and find a solution if needed so I'll be ready when it happens.
Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Hopefully everything has worked out for you fine. I'm not sure what caused the problem but if I were you I'd uninstall and reinstall both Firefox and Internet Explorer, just to play it safe. Google Chrome is another option. In the past when I had problems immediately after updates, I would usually do a system restore to the most recent point in time before the said update and that would usually help.

Also this happened to me the last two windows updates so I don't do them until my laptop does the automatically because they have to be done, it may randomly crash the connection after its been done for a day or two then its fine. Until the next update
