Newest rumors are that Disney is aggressively trying to buy full rights back to Spider Man from Sony. And that Sony is finally interested. So fingers crossed. I'd love to see them buy the rights to the Fantastic Four world back next!

So what Universe does Legion take place in?
Or is it a standalone?

Newest rumors are that Disney is aggressively trying to buy full rights back to Spider Man from Sony. And that Sony is finally interested. So fingers crossed. Fingers and toes. Sony doesn't have a leg to stand on anymore after this $920 million lost.. I think Marvel has been MORE than patient with Sony and at this point, Sony I believe has done serious damage to the Spider-Man property. I have no doubt that Spider-Man: Homecoming will be an incredible movie. But does it have the same anticipation and hype surrounding it as the previous two franchises did? Not in the slightest. Definitely not to the casual fan.. And that is 110% the fault of Sony. Sony owns the movie rights but not the property.. Fox owns Fantastic Four movie rights but not the property. At what point does Marvel put its foot down and say "you know what, enough is enough".

Seeing Disney add Avatar and Star Wars lands to Magic Kindom has me wishing Marvel would tell Universal to give back park rights.

Seeing Disney add Avatar and Star Wars lands to Magic Kindom has me wishing Marvel would tell Universal to give back park rights. Fox has probably done "can't turn back now" damage to the Fantastic Four property.. It would probably take YEARS to re establish that franchise.. And when it comes to Spider-Man, I've spoke to people who's reaction is "another one" or audible groaning when I bring up the Homecoming trailer that was released. You can only do something bad so many times before people lose interest in what you're doing.. I have the same feeling towards what DCEU has going on, except there might be redemption for them.. Fox has actually lost all my faith in handling X-Men and Fantastic Four and I'm legit nervous about how they handle the Deadpool sequel. Atleast Spider-Man was saved from the deep, dark abyss of Sony.. Which was not only willing, but planning to run that franchise into the ground so their bottom line looked better.. Venom? Sinister Six? Aunt May.. THEY WERE GOING TO DO SPIDER MAN MOVIES THAT DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH SPIDER MAN. Not to mention The Amazing Spider-Man 2 might have been the worst Spider-Man movie to date. Thank God Marvel came in when they did.. And I honestly believe it is only a matter of time before Marvel has complete control over all their properties again.. X-Men included.

I stand by TASM 2 being a good movie. Pacing could've been better, sure, but there's no way anyone convinces me it was worse than SM 3.
Anyway... I can see people not being as hyped about yet another new Spider-Man. He's always been my favorite comic character, and I know Homecoming is likely gonna knock it out of the park, but I'm not really "excited" for it. At least not as much as previous iterations.

So what Universe does Legion take place in? Or is it a standalone? I reckon it's standalone. Loved the comics back in the day. Edit: For anyone interested in The Runaways. bit.ly/2k62IFvMolly HERNANDEZ, huh? Seems like they spelled Hayes wrong. Oh...wait... Good to see that the trend continues. Not to mention The Amazing Spider-Man 2 might have been the worst Spider-Man movie to date.

I stand by TASM 2 being a good movie. Pacing could've been better, sure, but there's no way anyone convinces me it was worse than SM 3. Agreed 1 million percent. SM3 is a terrible movie. ASM2 is not......Ive never understood the hate. Handled Gwen so well....I really like the Garfield movie. but Word™ has a GREAT point about Spider Man: Homecoming.....lots of guys I know are not interested....most common comments include "F*ck ANOTHER reboot?" "is this a sequel to the last one?(ASM2)" "How can he be Spider Man in Civil War when its a different actor and hes way younger etc etc etc." and more of the same. At this point I'm already tired explaining it. Marvel/Disney will NOT LET SPIDEY FAIL. He is their GUY. But saying that? All parties involved need to start driving the hype nail home...I suspect it will begin soon but yeah get on it boys. I loved Holland as Spidey and enjoyed his participation in Civil War A LOT. I wish him nothing but success in the role...but he has his work cut out for him with the mainstream audience. Only thing is? Spideys popularity HASNT dwindled. The toon is still in the top shelf area of ratings......

Besides the Green Goblin, I really liked ASM2. And I still vastly prefer Garfield over Macguire.
I will say I am excited for the new franchise only because it's in the MCU. And the way I look at it is, if they can make me fall in love in a walking tree and a talking racoon, they can fix Spider Man.

I'm still in the boat that liked everything Tobey more than both TASM's.

I prefer Maguire over Garfield.. Spider-Man 2 is still one of the best comic book movies ever made.
I know people that enjoyed ASM 2, I was definitely not one of them.. I might go into why later when I have some time, but as of right now all I'll say is that at one point in ASM2 Spider-Man was fighting Electro with dubstep.
I don't think your 2 main leading stars having incredible chemistry is enough to make up for a clustered plot.
For the record though, I enjoyed ASM 1.

I dunno, man. I can forgive fighting Electro to dubstep a lot more than I can Emo Peter. That was just so awful and cringeworthy.

I just loved the fact Garfield's Spidey was a wise-ass in parts, something inherent from the comics that I love the character. Emma Stone was superb as Gwen Stacy IMO. Garfield really did Spider-Man well.. But the dude was waaay to cool for Peter Parker.. There's just no scenario in life where someone as good looking as Garfield is a loser. I also felt like they were on the right track with Amazing Spider-Man 1.. And everything they did right in ASM 1 they completely forgot in ASM 2 and just started doing statistic film making.. It's like after The Avenger's in 2012 they got really restless and attempted to shoehorn a large Spidey universe.. Then again so did everyone. I also could not care less about Peter's parents.. It was an absolute terrible way to start the film with the whole plane crash.. Never in my life did I wonder what happened to Pete's parents.. I just accepted that they weren't around.. Having them be some secretly powerful mad scientists was not interesting to me.

I believe Peter's parents were Shield members killed by Red Skull. Not sure where the ASM franchise planned on going since they couldn't use Red Skull or Shield, but yeah, I could have done without it.
And I always thought of Peter as more shy and introverted than a loser or geek. So I didn't mind Garfield's performance. He's a great actor IMO. Meanwhile, Maguire was very wooden in his performances. When he did have to show emotion, he over acted and usually looked stupid.
Another thing I hated about SM3 that nobody brings up is... was the whole addition to Flint Marko into Uncle Ben's death. It unnecessarily convoluted the story. Then at the end, Sandman is sorry and goes on his way. Ugh.

Not to mention Topher Grace as Venom. TASM2 had its weak points, but none of them were as godawful as SM3's biggest ones, IMO.

About Green Goblin in ASM2 - my mind shot right to mutated Frankie Muniz. At the rate Spider-Man 3 went, I'm sure Malcolm in the Middle would've been one of the villains in 4.
God, I need to see if Strange is still playing in 3D somewhere around here...

The original Spider-Man movies will always hold a really soft spot in my heart.. It's hard for me to even diss on Tobey due to the love I have for Spider-Man 1 & 2. I don't mind talking about Spider-Man 3 because of the known fact that Sam Raimi attempted to torpedo that film due to Sony's meddling.. And if you look back at the pre production for his 4th Spider-Man, it seemingly worked because Sony had backed the off. I will say this without question, Tobey Maguire is an AWFUL actor.. Didn't realize this until about 2011.
