So with the US Title being on the line against the WWE Title at SummerSlam, no matter who wins the match, do you think this is the WWE's way of retiring the US Title??
If Cena wins the WWE Title, I can't see them taking the US Title off Cena and putting it in a tournament. And if Seth Rollins retains the WWE Title, I imagine he will just toss the US Title aside (much like Triple H did with the IC Title in his Title vs. Title match with Kane back at No Mercy 2002).

I thought that too. But it would make all these US title defenses over the last few months all be for nothing. At this point, I'd say the US title holds more ground than the IC title does, so I'd hate to see it go.

I think this is another way for WWE to prove that indy wrestling is insignificant and could never succeed as a major promotion. You know, by continuing to steal from them.

I don't think they'll be unified. In kayfabe, John Cena wouldn't want to toss aside the United States Championship, a title that he's taken so much pride in holding over the past few months. For Seth Rollins, having two championships to defend would only further prove his abilities. Much like what Jay Lethal is currently doing in ROH.

Yeah I've been wondering about this lately. Did Kane vs. HHH have any story behind it regarding the IC title being retired when it was champ vs. champ? I can't recall.
Should be interesting to see what happens but God help us if Cena walks out of Summerslam with 2 titles...

He already did the IC/Hardcore and IC/European, so the story was something like "But wait I'm not done consolidating these titles!" He just wanted Triple H to be the sole champion of RAW.

With the way all this unifying has been going over the past few years, there's gonna be like 3 titles on the main roster by next year. I don't think they should do it imo.

I feel if cena wins, the what was the point of writing a big '15 on the back of his new shirt? It would never sell. So I kinda have a weird feeling seth is actually going to win.
On topic, I hope the us title isn't retired. Or seth says, "Let's have a belt that is up for grabs 24/7 because I am a fighting champion!" Unveils the hardcore title and revives the hardcore title. I definitely feel that'd be interesting.

For the very little that it is worth, the advertised main event for live shows after summerslam is owens/cena for the us title and Rollins isn't listed anywhere that I could find. I have tickets for the Charlottesville show on 9/6. Reigns/Ambrose/Wyatts are listed for the show in NJ that night.

Nope. I think this is a way to get Sheamus the WWE Title while leaving Cena or Rollins with the US Title. I think it's a horrible idea to have Sheamus cash-in and win though. He's one of the absolute worst picks on the roster to be champion right now. I don't know why a young babyface like Reigns or Ambrose wouldn't be next in line.
However, assuming Rollins wins, I can see this as a way to hand the US Title to someone who joins the authority and helps him win at SummerSlam. So maybe Cesaro goes over Owens, Owens helps Rollins win in the title match, Rollins hands Owens the US Title, and then Owens continues to feud with Cesaro.
Regardless, I don't think they're going to eliminate the US Tittle at all though, especially since Cena has spent all this time building the title up.

Ladies and Gentleman, your winner by disqualification due to outside interference by Kevin Owens...JOHN CENA! However, still your WWE Undisputed Champion, Seth Rollins.
Title remains with Seth. Seth pays back Owens with a win the next night when Cena puts his belt on the line against Owens. Owens is new US champ. Cesaro and Owens can have their feud be also for the belt. Because this is WWE, that means either Owens lost against Cesaro during Summerslam or didn't have one to begin with. Rollins faces Cena again. Cena loses again. I have this unjustified belief that if you win against Cena, you lose the next two, but if you lose to Cena, you win the next two. Hoping I'm right.

I hope Seth wins and Sheamus cashes in and wins but Seth reverses it on him like "you actually cashed in for the US title".

If they both get unified it would be, but I'd just expect Seth/Hunter to screw Sheamus out of the actual title.

who cares about this match. you know cena will not win because he cant win at summerslam. and the cant pull the belt of the authority reject Rollins. this match should be rolling vs cena vs owens vs cesaro and owens should win the belt. but wwe again dont want a heavy set champion.

Considering it's not the final match of the night, I'm expecting a screwy finish where both guys keep their respective title.
I'm thinking Sheamus runs down and attacks both men (match is a draw), attempts to cash in but Cena gets to him before the bell rings. In the lead up to Night of Champions Rollins costs Cena the US title (to Owens). The two once again face off at NoC.
