I doubt this will happen as everyone thinks Seth Rollins is going to be champion forever now, which is understandable. I thought about something today though on my way to work. Assuming that Rollins gets by Sting at NOC, there's a Network special on October 3rd at MSG. What better place to tie a record than the world's most famous arena? Cena is currently advertised to challenge Rollins for the title that night. What do you all think about the possibility of this happening. Again the thought came to my mind, but it's likely a long shot.

On a Network special? Not likely. When Cena ties Flair's record it will be at a WrestleMania, and most likely WM32.

Thought it was advertised somewhere as the United States Title being defended and not the World Heavyweight, Seth has already beaten Cena with the Big Network on the line so in storyline why would he agree and why would the Authority give Cena another shot?
And if Cena does tie Flair, it'll be at a Mania and Michael Cole will jizz himself and the kids will laugh and we'll all die inside a little.

If they wanted to drum up some interest in their specials and the Network in general, a title change would be a pretty big attention getter. But for Cena's big moment? Nah. Highly doubt they burn that without all the glitz and glam of a really major PPV/Special, and it doesn't seem MSG is treated as important as it used to be.

I think it's gonna happen at WM32.
Just trying to prep people with it now.

Yeah, Mania 32 with Flair there to raise his hand is likely how it goes down. That's totally uncharacteristic of the Flair character but totally characteristic of how WWE pushes Cena.
I think Rollins holds the title until Mania and Cena takes it from him in Dallas.

WWE isn't going to promote it, and honestly, they probably don't even know, but IF Sting beats Rollins at Night of Champions, he will be a 16x World Champion.

Cena has one of the best runs, and records are meant to be broken.

And granted, there isn't that big of a divide, but having the Dirtiest Player in the Game raise the hand of the squeaky clean boyscout kind of goes against 40 years of character development for Flair. Flair the man is friends with Cena though, so I'm sure he has zero issue with it.

If they are going to have him break or tie the record, it should happen at either the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, or SummerSlam.

It doesn't matter if Cena ties or beats Flair's record. Flair's record was set during a time period when they weren't constantly playing hot potato with the belt like they were when Cena won most of his belts. Also the Flair character can always be like " Anyone can be next, but there will only be 1 first." Also if you look at it technically isn't Flair like a 21 time champion or something like that?

It doesn't matter if Cena ties or beats Flair's record. I guess nobody will ever make a thread about it then.

The whole point was nowadays the title don't mean what they did back then and are passed around a lot more frequently then they were. Meaning Cena has 15 titles over 10 years whereas Flair won his first in like 1981 and his last was on 2000 so that is over a 19 year period which means much more than 15 titles in 10 years

And if you want to dismiss Flair's achievements due to a blind hatred of Naitch, you could ramble about most of his title wins being in a distant #2 promotion that was losing money, doing terrible ratings and little to no business on PPV, while sometimes even having to stop house shows because they drew so poorly. Or you could just be a normal person and acknowledge two of the best ever.

even if cena ties flairs record or not. he will never have gone through the hell ric flair went through for that belt all the hour long matches he had defending it. cena will never be the champion flair is. but cena will beat his record because vince is a ass, and he does not want a wrestler that he had nothing to do with creating have the most championship wins.
