This is probably only applicable to me due to where I live, but I'm so tired with figure hunting. I am located near 2 wal marts of the same distance and every time I go to hunt its been endlesses E34 Cenas and Hogans and Paiges everywhere.
What's worse is we finally got E37 in and the only evidence is unsold Cenas everywhere. I'm burning much more money in gas than I would buying all those Cenas. I remember when hunting was fun but now its just endlessly frustrating.
Yes, I know I can go online but hunting itself was one of the funnest parts about collecting.
Does anyone know of any pattern to how often Wal-Mart stocks their toys? That could help.
/end rant

I used to love to hunt. I haven't bought much at retail this whole year really.
It'll be more fun in the coming months.

i just buy online. its more expensive at first, but once you factor in time and gas its much cheaper. plus, it elmanates the impulse purchases.

Think part of the thrill in collecting is finding it in store. However if you Really want to make sure you get something, online is the way to go.

I used to be a retail hunting freak, would hit tons of stores in one trip.
I got really sick of going lately and not finding ANYTHING. The rush of finding something cool or hard to find at retail is gone. I get beat by scalpers i guess. Fun hobby.

Luckily, I drive for work, so I can hit multiple stores a day when I'm looking for a newly released wave...

I've fallen out of collecting. Mainly because 1) Mattel's distribution is absolute GARBAGE. You mean to tell me Walmart WANTS those ing "Best of" Elite cases? Or 27 straight cases of E32 and 33? Thats ridiculous and I ing hate walking into Walmart and see row upon row upon row of Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins. Then when they sell out of it do you know what they get? THREE MORE GODDAMN CASES OF THE SAME CRAP. Its gotten to the point where not even the kids want whats there! 2) There's not enough of a "WOW" factor anymore. After Hogan, Sting and Hall were signed there really isn't anything else I could want besides an Owen and it isn't enough of a want to keep my interest in collecting. I've been putting more and more of my figures downstairs. Yesterday I put 15 more downstairs in the figure bins. I'm not gonna sell them in case the bug comes back.

I used to love going to places and seeing the different stuff. I would get excited to see what figures they had that were different then other places. But now its just the same stuff. Cody, JYD and Cesaro everywhere 1 or 2 others from different sets that arent rare or new at all.

There are two Wal-Marts and a Kmart near my home that I can hit on a fairly regular basis, and I try to make an hour-long trip to the nearest Targets and TRU at least once a month. I still enjoy making the trips to those brick-and-mortar stores, but it is a pain to come back empty handed. The wait for a new shipment or restock can be frustrating at times, but I do find about 9 out of every 10 figs I'm hunting for eventually. It's just being persistent, with a big dose of luck thrown in.
Sometimes the collecting gods smile upon you; other times they all laugh as it pours down on your a**.

I remember when finding Paige was the hardest thing lol now she's everywhere It took me forever to find Paige. I eventually found one in a small less populated city where a new Walmart just opened up.

I get beat by scalpers i guess. Not necessarily. You could have gotten beaten by other collectors as well. Two weeks ago, my TRU put out a case of the new Jakks Nintento figures. I wanted the Fox McCloud figure and they had it...so I bought it. I took him home, opened him, and put him up on my video game figure shelf. If you had come in after me, you'd be assuming I'm a scalper because it's a hot figure and it was gone when you got there. But it's really sitting in my collection. I know it's frustrating when you go on fruitless hunts, but you're not always beaten by someone who wants to resell.

I've finally given up on even checking my local stores. It's now only Prime, eBay, or RSC for me.
