Like most have said, when he's interested in the role, the feud he's great. Look at his matches with Rollins earlier in the year. Then he gets shoved into Money in the Bank and another Sheamus feud. He probably wants something fresh. Cesaro feud, Owens feud, something with Wyatt or Ambrose, not just one match against them and that's it.

When he has a meaningful storyline he is great. Can also pull off amazing matches too. Problem is the same as most wrestlers with WWE they have no real storyline for them most of the time

With Orton wanting to work a lighter schedule into the future I would love to see him placed in a Brock role where he would only wrestle on PPV's and the occasional big match on Raw. I feel like what is absolutely killing guys these days is the overexposure of talent. Big Show, Orton, and Sheamus wrestle pretty much every week and its just redundant. Thats why I feel like no one cares about any of them anymore. Thats why Lesnar is so special.
You can still have them on TV but marching them out there every TV show to wrestle the same people is way past old. Thats why I actually loved this weeks main event, it finally gave new guys like PTP and New Day a chance to freshen up the scene.

Like others have said, When he is motivated, he is up there in the top 5 of best performers on the roster. He has always said he prefers to be heel and you can tell he hates being face because it always looks like he doesnt want to be there.
He probably absolutely hates facing Sheamus every week. That certainly isnt helping him stay motivated.

I'm really not a fan of Orton's. I'm really unsure if it's him or the way he's booked anymore. He just bores the hell out of me.

First every wrestler has their "five moves of doom". As for Orton he is flawless in the ring. You can say the same thing about Randy the Roddy used to say about Bob Orton. That he is to talented and makes everything look to perfect. He is probably the second best performer on the roster after Seth. But while he can be a face...he is born to be a heel.

I love Orton but he needs to be Heel. They should push him back into the legend killer gimmick and pair him back up with HHH. Triple H then used Orton to target the WWE champion Sting. Leading to Orton costing Sting the championship at the Rumble. Orton vs Sting at mania. Far better than Taker imo. Then Taker can be used for another big match and it gives Orton a decent match.
