I went on a short walk from my home to a walmart, and they had a figure for Razor Ramon, they charged 25 bucks for it, with that money I could've bought 2 standard figures and some starbucks OR 1 Elite figure and 1 Standard figure. I was wondering why they cost so much.

Because they are "Premium figures for the Collector".

The old ones were actually worth it
We are getting ripped the F off with the new ones
Anyone who wants to tell me Razor Ramon was worth the DM budget can go die
He should've had a second IC and a ladder

Because they come in a big gold box which fools the collector they are getting something more than a normal elite when they're not.

It's the packaging.
Other than maybe Flair's robe and Sting's coat, there is no justification for the price.

At this point I would say the wrestler is the reason for the pricing. Flair, Hogan, Sting and Razor were all first time in the line. Could have they been released as regular flashbacks? Yes. Think of it this way, Mattel knows people would buy top performers that have never gotten a Mattel figure as Defining Moments, so they capitalize on that. The other Defining Moments that were released all had extra goodies or extra detailed attires so that's where the pricing comes from due to a bigger budget. I think the boxes also add to the cost of the figures too. I agree that some aren't worth the price and should come with extra goodies but it's marketing at the end of the day. I wish we'd save these figures for elaborate attires etc. I think Sting is well worth the price, Razor imo should of came with extra goodies but it's still a good figure. I live in NYC, so the prices are all unfair. I think the regular elites and HOF are like almost 23 after tax and the DM are like 26 plus tax. In my case, I'd rather buy the DMs if they come with good accessories.

They're only like $5 more than an Elite. You get a little more than an average figure to justify the extra few bucks.

You can't buy a basic and an elite for $25
You can buy two basics for the same price of a normal elite as well

I really think with the exception of Sting and maybe Flair (because the robe and title) all the new DM could have easily been regular Flashbacks. But they are all big names (Flair, Hogan, Razor, Sting)that probably cost more to sign so they release them as DM's first to recoup some of the signing costs.

At this point I would say the wrestler is the reason for the pricing. Flair, Hogan, Sting and Razor were all first time in the line. This. And Macho Man's DM was the first Macho we ever got in this relative scale. We're paying for the names and the specialty boxes they come in. The BIGGEST reason the prices are so high is because people are willing to pay for it. I am one of those willing to pay for it. If Big Boss Man were more popular, he could've gotten a DM for the exact figure we got in the elite line. Think about it: he had a new head, new body mold with the shirt and strap, sunglasses, and three unique accessors: the ball n chain, nightstick, and handcuffs. That's DM-worthy right there. The only thing holding it back was the name.

The price is too high. However, it provides more of a garuntee for collectors that these big names will be available at retail.
It probably has to do with several factors: Packaging Accessories Deco Additional contract $ for bigger stars More of a financial commitment by Mattel on a single figure versus one in a wave (higher price makes it easier to recoup potential losses)

You could off if you think the new ones arent worth the dm tag or price. Aside from not the best line up, the new ones come with the same amount of accessories as the old ones and are great figures. The price is higher, because i could assume the packaging is more pricey and im guessing they are made in lesser quantities.

Defining Moments Ultimate Warrior - Insanely detailed attire as well as an insanely detailed CLOTH entrance duster Defining Moments Razor Ramon: Plastic vest with little paint detail, IC title which is missing it's paint detail. Small plastic chains. You could F off bud

Plastic vest works perfectly. God forbid we dont get a cloth shirt with every figure. Times are changing and products and resources dont cost the same as they used to. as i said, if the line up was slightly different..complaints would be ao persistant. But hey, you all will buy them either way.
