Personally how should the Invasion back in 2001 have been booked? How would you have booked it? What would you have done differently? And or which WWE superstar or superstars would you have seen turn over to the other side during this? Seeing as how Austin and Angle turned to The Alliance which superstar or superstars would you have had turn to The Alliance?
And or which superstars would you have booked differently?
For me I wouldn't have had DDP turn out to be the stalker I would have had it turn out to be someone else like maybe Jeff Jarrett or even Scott Steiner or even Lex Luger anyone else
But also Austin turning heel I think was a bad move but at the same time though they didn't really have a top heel at the time so I can understand why they kept Austin in that role even though if Triple H hadn't gotten injured during this time then I wonder how different the Invasion would have been especially if Triple H had stayed healthy during that time
And then there's the nWo the New World Order as well as Goldberg

I know it would have been tricky to do, but I would have liked to have not seen WCW and ECW unite. I get why they did it, but I think it would have been more interesting see two separate invading forces, instead of one combined one. You could have had ECW more of the rebels of the two, since that what ECW really was, playing both sides against each other to help themselves. And if it had gone in that manner, I would have still had Shane and Stephanie in the owner roles, but switched them, with Stephanie for WCW and Shane backing ECW. Have three waring forces too, would have played up more of the possibility of traitors. As for DDP, I think I would have still gone with him being the stalker, but changed it up differently. They booked it more like he was stalking Sara, because he was obsessed with her, when it should have been more for him playing mind games with Undertaker. And they should have also had those mind games work too, with Page being able to get more one ups on Taker than he ended up doing.

Not going to comment on the Invasion as a whole simply because I feel it's been done to death but I'm really interested by the concept of Steiner as the stalker. Him against Taker could have been pretty damn cool. Have they ever had a match anywhere?

The nWo imagine if they started the Invasion with having Nash, Hall and Hogan just show up as the first ones to invade and then it taking off from there

Everyone knows they botched the Invasion badly and The Alliance was so weak. Jim Cornette did a shoot interview and showed how he'd book the Invasion and it's actually really good.

I believe that JokerFC has a bunch of ideas about this that have been discussed multiple times.

The Invasion was never going to work because the planet sized egos of Vince & Stephanie. Even though they OWNED the f*cking war they couldn't get over themselves....ratings started to slide by August when fans realised their dream had been blown to smithereens by Vince and the plastic princess acting out their fantasies onscreen......and the brain-trust would reap the "rewards" for years to come.
I will firstly lay things that should have happened character wise and wrestlers that should have been included.
1) First and foremostly Austin does NOT turn heel on the WWF......Jericho does. He then goes on to relieve Austin of the WWF title @ Summerslam 2001(this should not have been a problem because Austin was championing Chris as a guy who should get a shot) where the WWF gets their asses kicked and are left in dire straights. Jericho would have been a MADE man overnight.
2) Booker T and DDP should have been presented as bona fide stars. They were on the same level in the fans eyes easily as Hall & Nash when they went to WCW.
3) Big Show was doing nothing in the Summer of 2001. he should have been reintroduced as The Giant and as a force to be reckoned with. This could have been accomplished with Giant wiping out Kane and UT at the same time in a segment on Raw. Easy peasy bolstering of the WCW forces.
4)Ric Flair(who was willing to work) should have been bought out of the remaining 5 months on his deal. WCW needed somebody legit to lead them.....Ric was THE man for the job. Not only that? But he could still wrestle......he could have legit led the WCW team into Invasion. He could also have been revealed as the guy who got in Jerichos ear to turn him against Vince.....promising to make him the NEW chosen one.
5)Vince should have dropped half of the "talent" he gained from WCW. Most weren't worth a f*ck and it would have freed up some $$$ to go after another big name.
6)DDP should NOT have been the stalker. Vince knows the score with wrestlers and he KNEW damn well Bagwell was gonna be a disaster....but he let him be one with no consequences whatsoever......Bagwell should have been the stalker and let UT wipe him out.......IF that story had to happen.
7) Stephanie should have had NO onscreen involvement whatsoever. ECW should have been led by Heyman end of story.
8) Vince didn't need Hogan or the nWo. They should always have been left to the next phase of the Invasion. His decision to leave them out was correct......HOWEVER
9) Vince's line about not being able to afford Goldberg and Steiner was purer than pure bullsh*t. Invasion did a COLLOSSAL buyrate. Imagine what it would have been if Goldberg & Steiner had been on team WCW with Flair, DDP & Booker T. it would have easily paid for their contracts and wage agreements. EASILY.
Invasion did a 775,000 buys.....2nd biggest number of 2001 after WM17. an ENORMOUS buyrate it also totally eclipsed by a large margin the other 2001 PPVs. Imagine what it would have done were the main event
Team WWF: Austin, Rock, UT, Angle & Jericho
vs
Team WCW: Goldberg, Steiner, Booker T, DDP & Flair.
Vince and his cretinous daughter blew some MAJOR cash. Absolutely UNREAL.......I will be back tomorrow with more booking ideas tomorrow......duhn duhn duhn!!!!

Crazy that we could have had a longer boom period if this was booked correctly, with fantasy match-ups instead of Mcmahon ego trips that ultimately led to the lull period we're in now? Yes... crazy. Although I would call them thick as sh*t.

I really like the Jim Cornette video of how he would have booked the Invasion assuming the WWE retained all the important contracts when they bought WCW.

The Invasion angle should have been booked to be a 3-sided war. By not merging the WCW Champions with the ECW Stars would have kept things very interesting. The turns would have been more exciting. For example, I could see Kurt Angle joining WCW and not ECW, and I could see Stone Cold Steve Austin joining ECW and not WCW, both referencing past experiences with those companies. I could see Lance Storm jumping from ECW to WCW, again referencing past experiences. I could see all 3 companies trying to acquire Chris Jericho and the Radicalz. I would keep Shane as the owner of WCW and Stephanie as the owner of ECW, but I would have had Eric Bischoff as the GM of WCW and Paul Heyman as the GM of ECW. In storyline, I’d have WCW attack Raw and ECW attack Smackdown. In reality, I’d have Raw and WCW split Monday nights and have Smackdown and ECW split Thursday nights.
As far as the timeline goes, I don’t think I would have ever stopped the War. Even till this day, there should be WWE, WCW, and ECW programming on TV. Eventually, the WWE created the Brand Extension which split Raw and Smackdown and added WWECW. Instead of that, it would have been beneficial to have WWE, WCW, and ECW as the Brands instead.
The other plus to continuing the War would be the addition of all of the remaining WCW holdouts like Ric Flair, Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Rey Mysterio, Scott Steiner, Goldberg, etc. Another plus would be all of the ECW Stars who eventually made their way to the WWE at the 2005 One Night Stand, like the Blue World Order, etc. And the last major plus to not stopping the War would be to include the returning SuperStars who were injured from July 2001 to November 2001, like the Radicalz, Triple H, etc.
As far as the NXT concept goes, I would have developed a working relationship with the NWA before Jeff Jarrett could, and make the NWA a farm system of sorts. They could have had a great talent exchange.
Now, let’s imagine all of this took place. Survivor Series could have looked like this!!
Round One
Match One Blue Word Order – Big Stevie Cool, Hollywood Nova, Da Blue Guy, and Taka Michinoku vs. ECW – Shane Douglas, The Sandman, Raven, and Taz
Match Two New World Order – Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and The Big Show vs. WCW – Ric Flair, Big Van Vader, Booker T., and Sting
Match Three NWA – Steve Corino, Jason Rumble, and The New Heavenly Bodies ("Casanova" Chris Nelson and "Vivacious" Vito DeNucci) vs. The Radicalz – Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Chris Jericho
Match Four D-Generation X – Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Mr. @$$, and Road Dogg vs. WWF – Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Kurt Angle, and Undertaker
Round Two
Match Five The winner of match 1 vs. The winner of match 2
Match Six The winner of match 3 vs. The winner of match 4
Round Three
Match Seven The winner of match 5 vs. The winner of match 6
And that’s just the Survivor Series. Imagine how the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and SummerSlam would look like.
