They're just insecure about themselves so they have to make fun of other people to make them feel better. I'd feed into it...if they know it doesn't bother you they won't bother doing it. my friends on social media and other public forum boards give me crap about buying toys and actually collecting wrestlers. they keep telling me i have no life\will never get laid\have no friends\childish\etc (they even put me down about buying TSHIRTS! and how this is stupid to walk around with a wrestling tshirt) did that happen to you? and what do you say to those people who try to shame you (mostly in public?) its the public shaming im worried about.. i posted some new gets and people went with these negative comments, and each had like 5 or 6 likes for his comment, and replies.. i can say screw them and ignore it, but everyone else can see that , and no, im not in high school, im in college

I go to the nearest bathroom and have a good cry. I have peers that call my insane and whatnot, but they are 30, smoke pot, and living with their moms and dads. I, on the other hand, have been working towards my bacholers degree, own my home, own my car, and have created two wonderful, beautiful, offspring. Haters always be hating! Just to give you a heads up about "getting laid". I get it, all I wanted to do is bump throughout my 20s. As you get older, and wiser, it's not the most important thing in life.

Don't worry. You will get laid, and eventually marry said girl that you got laid by.
You two will then move into a house and you will set up your figures in the spare room. But soon enough, a baby will come along. So that spare room is now the babies room, so you have to take down your wrestling figure collection and put it away in the garage in storage.
But then your wife will bring up how since those figures are just sitting in the garage in boxes, that you should put them up for sale and the extra money can go into helping out with the baby. So you will do that, and sell your wrestling figures to other collectors.
I believe that's the formula around here for collecting/selling.

In high school I desperately tried to hide the fact that I enjoyed collecting toys. As I've gotten older, that feeling of trying to fit in diminished. I'm now married, have a good job, and collect as much as I want and don't care who knows it.

I have thousands of figures... Star Wars, GI Joe, WWE, etc. and I have plenty of friends...a pretty good career, and I have been laid many, many times. Not as much now that I'm married (ZING!), but I have a pretty good life and will continue to collect toys as long as I have the money to do so. Who gives a frak what social media junkies think? I bet it's hard for them to get laid when they can't tear themselves away from Facebook and Twitter for longer the 30 seconds. I guarantee their significant other would trade their "gotta finish within 30 seconds so I can update my Facebook status" guy for a "60 minute man" with a Ric Flair figure standing on his night stand! lol

Wait so people on a wrestling forum were giving you this b.s for buying figures? Aww hell no! And making fun of your shirts? Double hell no! Pretty lame if you ask me, I don't really talk about wrestling with friends much, it never really gets brought up, but if I did talk a lot about it, man I wouldn't care about their irrelevant opinions. I've got figures and I'm proud, they're mine! Don't let the haters get you down, they're just jealous mate, they wish they had your figures.

In life, there will always be people who do this. They're the ones who follow, and don't lead. They fall into peer pressure and care about what people think of them. Be the bigger man, and dismiss of them. They aren't your friend if they judge and harass you for what you love. It comes with being a wrestling/figure fan. Just move on, dismiss of them, and find more friends that share your hobby. Just think to yourself, there's a lot of more people who collect figures and love wrestling than hate it. this is why I love you lol and as far as social media goes haters going to hate bro who cares what somebody you are never going to meet thinks about what you do or what you want and even if you do happen to know some of these people they don't know the real you if they don't like you for you and they're not worth your time

The fact that they have to pick on you for what you like shows how insecure they are about what people think of them. F*ck them dude. Really all you can do is shrug it off and not care. They'll stop eventually.

Just like everyone else said "haters will hate". Ignore them and just be you. Out of everything, thats the most important. Granted i stopped playing with toys when i was a kid. I just started collecting in August and i am 30. They have a nice place in my mancave and my wife encourages me to buy a figure that i want because it would make me happy. She also watches with me once in a while. So at the end of the day, be yourself and you will get laid and have lots of friends.

Ah yes, I see this argument in a lot of places. The tired "Get a life, nerd!" and "Aren't you too old to play with toys?" remarks.
There's a simple quote I use in my day-to-day that acts as a shield to these accusations: Growing old is inevitable, but growing up is optional.
Basically just because you're getting older doesn't mean you can't indulge in a hobby. Of course some people misuse the phrase and use it to justify juvenile behavior, but in this case it's perfectly valid. You have the funds to treat yourself, you're the one who earns your own money, you do what you want as long as no laws or people get broken in the process.
Not to cast any stones, but there are weirder and more destructive hobbies out there that are socially acceptable. I personally never had to deal with these types of people, and if I did, I feel I shouldn't have to justify my hobby to them. You do your hobby for you, not for the approval of a random person. Hell my friends think my collection is pretty awesome, but I digress.
My advice is to ignore them, or if you must you could turn the tables and point out an odd hobby they may have. Like I said, as long as no laws or people get broken, and your other priorities are in order, I say live it up and screw anyone who says otherwise!

I've seen wrestling fans say collecting wrestling figures is stupid.
Like...
...really?
You're a fan and don't have /one?/

Do whatever makes you happy. I learned that a long time ago. Its your life and if you wanna collect then do it. One day you may not be able to and really regret not doing it while you had the chance. My girlfriend hates that i have them hanging and all over my room but she still lays in my bed if you get my drift.

Get better friends? Lol. Seriously, tell them it's none of their business what you do with your disposable income.

I've never had people give me crap about it, but trying to share my excitement with non-collector irl wrestling fan friends, I get the first sentence out and you can just feel their 1000 yard stare.
Only time I can remember was back when BCA was up to series 7(age 12), my sister said, "girls won't like you if they see those toys", yeah, I couldn't care less, I like playing god with my wrestling figures more than impressing someone that doesn't like...what I like?
