7 years is a crazy amount of time.
I don't know how well he would work in WWE, but I'd be interested in seeing it.
I've warmed to him a lot lately.

Remember when Ricochet/Helios sucked? Damn, that was a while ago. Dude has come a long way over the years. I do. Oh do I ever. And now the idea of Richochet/Balor match makes me cream my shorts. He's roommates with Apollo Crews and dating Tully Blanchard's daughter and the reason he can't work in WWE is because he has a longterm deal with LU? I mean come on bro, you obviously were making quality life decisions right up to that point where you signed a SEVEN year deal with a company that barely got a season 2... Regardless of the actual quality of LU, only like 40,000 people watch it a week, assuming it's on. I love Ricochet though, and his NJPW stuff leading into everything he did with LU has all been incredible. Really gifted athlete. I think he's the type of guy that can succeed without WWE but I think he could be big money for them in NXT and beyond. Hopefully he's at least getting really good, guaranteed, money with that contract. Guaranteed money and bookings and working television giving you valuable experience and exposure is something an indy wrestler CANNOT pass up. You just never know whether WWE is gonna call you. In addition, if he was expecting LU to fold fairly quickly, then his 7 year deal would become null and void. I am sure that if the company went belly up, his contract would become null and void.

Oh man, that sucks..... I have no idea who these people are. Same, although I know a little about Ricochet.

I like Lucha Underground, but signing a 7 year contract with a company like that is ridiculous IMO. Ricochet and Angelico are two guys I'd like to see on NXT.

Jesus Christ.....Ricochet done ed up. Dude, you can be a ing star why on earth sign for that long at his age. Pretty much locks him up from ever getting to the WWE unless he gets a release..... This is the most depressing news I've read in a while......

Why is it that this seems false? A 7 year deal to a company that probably won't survive past Season 2. Just not buying this one

Calm down guys contracts in wrestling are about as strong as Bruce Harts credibility. They also barely got a season 2.

Seven years is an absurd length of time to be locked into a contract on either side in this industry.

Seven years is an absurd length of time to be locked into a contract on either side in this industry. No kidding.... You might as well just get in a box and stay there.....I'm just getting into Lucha Underground so i cant say it's a bad place to be but why risk being locked to a company that could very well be a flash in the pan. People act as if LU is the re-birth of pro wrestling....guess what? People were acting the same way about ROH and PWG many years ago. Let's face it TNA didn't stand a chance, ROH doesn't stand a chance, LU will most likely follow suit and a few years from now be just another company with great talent and overrated matches.

It doesn't make sense for a new company to throw around 7 year contracts.....it doesn't make sense to sign to a new company for 7 years either. There is either very dumb people in wrestling or this is all bullcrap. It is a bit odd that the two guys named are seemingly the two LU guys with the most love from the IWC.....this could all be bullcrap the more i think about it.

Hopefully he's at least getting really good, guaranteed, money with that contract. They averaged around 70,000 views on El Rey and average about 200,000-300,000 on Unimas. For their first year on a network in which I can (seemingly) only get off Comcast's On Demand service (I can get the normal channel to play), they are doing quite well. They are getting the same numbers as TNA at a fraction of the cost. Back to Ricochet, I doubt it is a 7 year deal. There is no way LU was offering that long of a deal without even having one season.

7 Years is one hell of a commitment. The guy may have made the biggest mistake of his life signing with LU for 7 years when he could of been working for WWE.

It's not like the WWE wanted him in the first place. He had a tryout match I believe last year and wasn't signed. But I highly doubt ricochet signed a 7 year deal with LU.

If Lucha Underground goes under, does he have to work for a different show on the network? Some king fu thing?

TBH, I don't get all the surprise over his contract. I don't think things like this are they uncommon. They sign him to a long term deal because they planned to built a show around him, and then around year 3 or 4 they could go back and renegotiate the terms. Assuming the show lasts that long. If it doesn't, then it's not like he just has to sit out the remainder of his contact. This is the El Rey Network, not WCW, he won't be getting paid if the show gets canceled.
LU is one of two things for Ricochet: Either his foot in the door with WWE (in terms of getting himself on their radar) or it's his shot at the big-times. As big as it'll get for an indy guy anyway.
