7 Years is one hell of a commitment. The guy may have made the biggest mistake of his life signing with LU for 7 years when he could of been working for WWE. It's not like the WWE wanted him in the first place. He had a tryout match I believe last year and wasn't signed. But I highly doubt ricochet signed a 7 year deal with LU. There have been many times where wrestlers didn't get signed in their first tryout match with WWE. Doesn't hurt to tryout again, but yeah hopefully his 7 year contract isn't true. He probably could get out of it.

Calm down guys contracts in wrestling are about as strong as Bruce Harts credibility. They also barely got a season 2. That is the best thing I've read all day. I'm sure WWE and Lucha Underground would be able to work something out after Season 2. And wasn't finding ways to cut costs the main issue with getting a Season 2? Apart from that it seems like they're fine.

Why would either of them not want to be in Lucha Underground anyway? They're part of a grass roots wrestling revolution and I should think they're on great money.
Lucha Underground kicks WWE's arse in terms of quality and the use of their talent. It's even got higher production value.

He's roommates with Apollo Crews and dating Tully Blanchard's daughter and the reason he can't work in WWE is because he has a longterm deal with LU? I mean come on bro, you obviously were making quality life decisions right up to that point where you signed a SEVEN year deal with a company that barely got a season 2... Regardless of the actual quality of LU, only like 40,000 people watch it a week, assuming it's on. I love Ricochet though, and his NJPW stuff leading into everything he did with LU has all been incredible. Really gifted athlete. I think he's the type of guy that can succeed without WWE but I think he could be big money for them in NXT and beyond. Hopefully he's at least getting really good, guaranteed, money with that contract. They averaged around 70,000 views on El Rey and average about 200,000-300,000 on Unimas. For their first year on a network in which I can (seemingly) only get off Comcast's On Demand service (I can get the normal channel to play), they are doing quite well. They are getting the same numbers as TNA at a fraction of the cost. Back to Ricochet, I doubt it is a 7 year deal. There is no way LU was offering that long of a deal without even having one season. The average you're referring to is the combined average for the 3 times the show plays on El Rey on one night. That's the same as TNA's rating where I think it's kind of an inaccurate read on the overall weekly demand but it's at least less so with LU having a big West Coast following. The Unimas viewership means very little to me. I say that because viewership is all about sponsorship dollars and those types of channels aren't going to bring in enough value in ad money to mean much. LU needs those viewers on El Rey. I'm sure if we got into total viewership with TNA in India, the UK, and all the seemingly multitude of obscure countries where they have deals that they'd bury LU in total viewers. And that's coming from someone who thinks LU is about 9,000 better as an actual product than TNA. As far as the contracts, the Young Bucks, Son of Havoc and Meltzer have all said the length of the contracts are for 7 years/seasons. So that seems to be 100% accurate. The Bucks went so far as to bury LU for the money being offered too. I mean maybe Ricochet got a better 7 year offer than the Bucks but my guess is probably not based on the Bucks being a bigger draw. I do agree with the sentiment that he can likely get out of the deal but stranger things have happened. It would be a shame to see such a talented guy handcuffed to LU in his prime when he could go to NXT and be a big star there and potentially work at Mania someday. I'm not taking anything away from LU, it's a great show, but the end game for 95% of these guys is WWE and WWE is calling.

If Ricochet ever does sign with WWE, I think they should keep him in a mask. Doesn't have to be the Puma mask, but maybe a new character. It would instantly give him some character and set him apart from most of the roster.

I doubt Unimas doesn't run ads, and again, It doesn't cost near what TNA does as each episode as it is half the length, half the recordings are done at a time, and it is supported by AAA. This is also it's first season on a network that is hard to access while it is live. TNA was barely getting better numbers while they were on Fox Sports Net in 2005, which was readily available to most. I am pretty sure the total TNA numbers aren't much bigger even with the other countries, as the International Discovery Channels have been cancelling Impact left and right. The Young Bucks are useless as individuals, so they were probably offered a deal based on such. And since they also don't have a doubles tag division, they would have also had to grab someone else from the Bullet Club. Also, the Bucks turned down NXT deals due to the lower pay, even though they would be doing less in developmental and as soon as they were elevated to the main roster, the pay would have increased.

Also, the Bucks turned down NXT deals due to the lower pay, even though they would be doing less in developmental and as soon as they were elevated to the main roster, the pay would have increased. Agreed, LU is doing great for where they're at as a startup. It just seems crazy for a performer to go all-in with them for that length of time not knowing where they'll end up. I'm not arguing that the arrow is pointed up, by any means, but it's strange to lock yourself out of WWE, or anywhere else for that matter, for that length of time. I have no idea with the Bucks. You're probably onto something there but the Bucks have made no secret about doing well and everywhere else seems to pay them their asking rate, including ROH and NJPW. NXT contracts are a huge drop in pay for guys who have legit star power in other places. Someone like AJ Styles would be going from a half million a year to likely one fourth or fifth that amount. That's why the Bucks turned down NXT. Up to that point WWE had been unwilling to give real deals to what they still perceived as developmental talent. I think that's likely changed somewhat, specifically with Itami, Balor and Joe, but the drop off would be less significant for someone like Ricochet as it would the Bucks right now. Which is also why I think WWE seems to want Evolve talent over ROH talent right now. Given the best talent in ROH is being pretty well paid. I just think it's physically impossible for Ricochet to be in 5 years with LU where he would be with WWE. Which is largely the point, I think.

I agree, it does seem crazy for anyone to sign a 7 year deal. Well the reasons they offer them lower contracts for NXT is that they are not having them travelling much at all, they aren't promised they will work, and they aren't getting sponsorship money for NXT. While Balor may only be making a fraction of what he did at NJPW, he'll probably make the same he was there plus much higher Merchandise sales once he is elevated to the Main Roster. It's as simple as giving up the majority of your pay for 1-2 years (which they are getting well over the average US household wage), to get payed a lot more afterwards. The Bucks are crazy for not signing, they could be the next Hardy Boyz. Styles on the other hand, is better off in NJPW as he doesn't draw well in the US, he's nearing 40, his overly Christian beliefs are off putting, and has 4 kids.

Good. WWE would ruin those guys. I really don't get why people want these guys in WWE. They would book like shit, as evidenced by the treatment of Cesaro. And before anyone goes "Well, they could be big stars there, and make tons of money." Newsflash: WWE isn't the only place in the world, where you can make a name for yourself. It's also not the only place in the world where you can make money. Ricochet has been working in NJPW, Dragon Gate, PWG, and LU. And Angelico has been working in AAA, LU, and recently, PWG. I doubt those two are starving for money. Also, WWE had their chance to sign Ricochet a couple of years back, and they didn't. So them.

They missed the boat on Ricochet since he is an amazing high flyer but part of me think they didn't want to sign him because Adrian Neville has a very similar style.
