If he does get punished, that would be a real scumbag move. Vince needs to go, NOW.

Then these rules need to apply to everyone.
Paige and Alicia Fox shouldn't be allowed to travel together.
Stardust must divorce Eden.
Nobody in the Wyatt Family should have a social media account.
Etc.

Wasn't the story line with Ziggler/Lana vs. Rusev/Summer Rae punishment enough for Rusev??
And if Vince is angry because word got out that Rusev was still with Lana and that hurt the story line that was going on, then Vince needs to open his eyes and realize what was hurting that story line was the very fact that IT WAS a story line to begin with!

They need to try and rebuild Rusev, not punish him even more. He has charisma, he can sell and more importantly he's believable. Him and Lana were a fantastic team, and ever since Cena x3 its been nothing but downhill. I hope this is dirtsheet garbage and we get a genuine Rusev/Lana partnership again with him becoming a top heel, something obviously missing right now.

It feels like his punishment started 6 months ago.

It was the first thing I thought of after hearing of it. They may act all nicey-nice at the moment, playing it up on tv, but backstage I bet Vince blew a gasket and was pissed off over it. He holds grudges against people for a lot less.
Then again, with the lack of kayfabe and punishment over it nowadays, it could just blow over. Either way this whole this is effed up stupid.
Congrats to them and stuff, just don't post the bloody pictures on your social media accounts guys! Geez...

Punished? I dont think he can be punished any further. The guy went from the top heel to being fed to Cena and being reduced to a comedy act in a love triangle. He will never be taken seriously again unless he has a gimmick change.

He already is being punished. After the TMZ story broke, Rusev jobbed to Ryback in 3 minutes and then to Dolph Ziggler when special referee Summer Rae made a fast count. Look for the losing streak to continue for a few more weeks.

Hell, the report last week said WWE leaked the news of the engagement to TMZ in the first place. So obviously dirt-sheets are still making up stuff as they go.

He grew on me at WM(?), but he was never nor will he ever be a top heel in my opinion. He will be an upper mid-card heel...but never the top heel.
That said if he does in fact get punished it is his own fault for posting the pic. Social Media is without a doubt the stupidest most useless thing on the internet.
Of course the article is pretty pointless also. Because there is no fact to it. "It may ór may not been the reason" so it is basically an article of speculation. So yeah Dirt Sheets are the second biggest waste to the internet.

Will he? How has he not already? He jobbed out to Ryback in like 5 minutes, he got his ass handed to him verbally by Summer, and WWE.com had a poll that said "What would you consider hell?" with one option being "marrying Rusev."

Yes, they should be fined or punished if it is going to mess with the story lines.
And from what I have seen since day one of his main roster debut at no time did he ever have the makings to be one of the top heels in the company. Sure he could sell stuff, but he was never believable as the monster they were trying to make him out to be. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

The only punishment the poor guy has had to endure has come from feuding with Dolph Ziggler.
I know everyone loves Ziggler, and he's a hell of an in-ring talent, but he saps the heat from any worker or feud he's ever involved in.
Rusev is a genuine athlete, with a hell of a lot of charisma. He is LEGITIMATE. And he's Bulgarian, which means his background and his nationality is enough motive for any feud they want to put him in. Hence why he was able to get Jack Swagger (of all people) over in a legitimate-feeling feud over the pride of America. Mark Henry. Big E.. Obviously none of those feuds stood a test of time, but Rusev looked a million bucks each time he beat the other.
So after he was inevitably beaten by USA Cena, he needed a solid feud to fall straight into... And it didn't come for ages, until some utter moron reminded Vince that resident spare part Dolph Ziggler existed.
Instead of SLOW BUILDING the Rusev Lana split, akin to the good ol' days, they rushed it out. Within 3-4 weeks, Rusev treated Lana like crap, Lana left him for Ziggler, WWEs resident 'diva spare part' Summer Rae got involved and then injury hit, which prolonged the feud. Prolonging our torture.
Because the reality is, regardless of how much Rusev womanised Lana, it worked! The audience ate it up, if you ask me, it's simply because the more informed section of the audience sympathised with Rusev following his "crushing" to Cena, and were happy to restore some legit heat into Rusev, booing his womanising behaviour and cheering Lana at every given opportunity.
But of course, such is modern WWE, we apparently don't have an attention span anymore! So they felt the need to hurry things along
There must have been a board meeting, to discuss how they'd try and push Ziggler AGAIN. And at that meeting, they must have simply pointed out to Vince that Rusev being European and Lana being a victim was (at the time) generating the most LEGITIMATE crowd response on TV. So they put two and two together, and got three.
The reason we never cared for the Rusev/Ziggler feud (and I say we because I know I'm not the only one who sees it this way) is because Ziggler is a guy who we want to LOVE for his incredible workrate, ignoring his obvious characteristic flaws. Whereas Rusev is somebody we want to HATE for his arrogant character, ignoring the fact he's also one hell of an impressive wrestler.
What WWE have done is inadvertently highlighted both men's biggest weaknesses, Rusev has become a shell of the machine-like monster he once was by showing 'genuine' gestures of emotion and control over his women, especially Lana who used to 'control' him. As for Dolph, by "stealing a heels girlfriend", it's massively highlighted the bi-polar characteristics shackled around Zigglers ankle. They've prevented him from being a credible main eventer for years now. Simply put: it's not a babyface thing to do.
Ziggler did nothing for Sheamus' heel run, and he's done nothing for Rusev. He's having a stinker of a year. But Sheamus gets flamed for the first feud, and terrible booking gets blamed for the second. Well here's a suggestion: don't book Ziggler with people who's short term future matters! Because it's a waste of a spot, Neville, Cesaro, hell even the likes of a face Stardust and Barrett would have benefitted from a feud with Rusev after the 12 months he's had prior to the last 6.
But no, let's insult the fans intelligence and bury everybody involved apart from Ziggler, whom after we revealed the story was all fake, has gone on to have a very Ziggler-esque 2 week supporting-role push alongside Cena and New Day before disappearing back into mediocrity.
As for Rusevs punishment for being engaged? No. WWE love a loved up couple, and these two are serious, they'll (hopefully) be back together on screen soon. I can see them taking another chance on Rusev once Lana is cleared to return. After all, look at the repeat-to-recovery job they've done with Ryback in the last year!
Typical cynical "dirt sheet" crap, pick a topic and claim it's caused "BACKSTAGE HEAT". It hasn't, the story was stale and sucked so they canned it. They could have done it a month ago, but they obviously thought they could save the story. And they couldn't. If there was any "punishment" due, they wouldn't have acknowledged it on RAW for starters.... That's pretty obvious! Why did they acknowledge it? Because It sets up Lanas return, to send Summer back to the recycling factory, WWE love pop culture and quoting TMZ, because they're a legit couple whom they have a bright future planned for.. There's a hundred reasons. I can see Rusevs losing streak starting on the back of these rumours though, simply to further set up Lanas comeback.

It's WWE; so I'd say that's a given.
