Rewatching this match right now, and I forgot how unbelievable this match was. Two outstanding athletes in their prime. If nobody has seen this match, please go watch it, because it was outstanding. It was two great wrestlers who had incredible chemistry together. Seeing this again just reinforces my belief that Davey Boy should definitely be in the HOF.

I bought the Raw Box Set two years ago pretty much FOR this match. To have it with the "WWF" wording for it was a must.
A few things I noticed about this match.... it's aged well. The dark atmosphere for the Raw makes this match look different than most matches you would see on Raw. And that ring sounded so stiff and loud that night.
On a side note, I feel the British Bulldog & Owen Hart is a tag team that doesn't get mentioned enough or has enough love from the fans. But they dominated the tag scene from September 1996 - June 1997, and even after they lost the tag titles they still were #1 contenders all the way through September for those belts.

Bulldog & Owen are a personal top 5 favorite tag team for me.

I bought the Raw Box Set two years ago pretty much FOR this match. To have it with the "WWF" wording for it was a must. A few things I noticed about this match.... it's aged well. The dark atmosphere for the Raw makes this match look different than most matches you would see on Raw. And that ring sounded so stiff and loud that night. On a side note, I feel the British Bulldog & Owen Hart is a tag team that doesn't get mentioned enough or has enough love from the fans. But they dominated the tag scene from September 1996 - June 1997, and even after they lost the tag titles they still were #1 contenders all the way through September for those belts. Yup, I agree. Bulldog was underrated as a pure wrestler, overall, I've always felt like. He could adapt his style to pretty much any and every opponent that he faced. Together as a team with Owen, they were simply awesome. |

Even to this day its still one of my favorite matches
&
I loved the team of davey and owen they don't get talked about that much but they are up there on my list of favorite tag teams

My personal favorite match of Davey Boy's, better than Summerslam '92 IMO.
Both guys looked like they had fun, the pacing was great. An underrated gem I feel.

Enjoyed the match as I enjoy both wrestlers but I find them both overrated if Im honest. Their team was good but they wouldn't crack my top 15 teams.
Also Bulldog has a few matches better than Summerslam 92 IMO. his match vs Bret @ IYH: Seasons Beatings is ten times better than Summerslam 1992 because Bulldog wasnt a blown up & overmuscled. Its a testament to Harts talent that he dragged Daveys pilled up ass through the wembley match.

They were part of a criminally overlooked Survivor Series tag to open the 1996 event. They had a good one against Furnas and Lafon at Final Four I think. There's also the five on five Canadian Stampeded main event. |

Bulldog/Owen vs. Furnas & Lafon too.
The matches they had together at the Feb. IYH PPV and the Raw from Toronto weeks before the PPV were pretty damn good.
Bulldog/Owen vs. The Smoking Gunns too were always entertaining.
Bulldog/Owen vs. LOD too from the Aprl IYH was a cool match too with some false finishes occurring in it.

The latter was what Jim Ross questioned on one of the Legends of Wrestling Roundtable episodes. If the Bulldog stayed clean in the beginning of his WWF singles career, I have no doubt he would have been a viable WWF Champion during the New Generation Era. Given how the WWF wasn't doing good domestically but were drawing a good gate internationally. |

Davey Boy could have been the man for the WWE at one time. When Davey Boy Smith passed away in 2002, I was saddened. The fact he passed away at the age of 39 just makes you angry at times. I do remember his 1994-1997 run fondly. His match against Diesel at In your House IV was good but the match with Bret Hart at In Your house V, is must see. People say it was better than their SummerSlam 1992 match and I agree. When he was really motivated, the British Bulldog can be solid in the ring. For the sake of this thread, I'll watch the European Championship finals match against Owen Hart. I have not seen this match since it aired to say the least. Without drugs davey boy smith would have been atleast WWF champion once FACT Amen to this. It pains me to see the British Bulldog not having a run as the Federation champion. |
