Eddie was great. You can tell he meant a lot to people. And what a great wrestler. He was a real underdog people could get behind. If Del Rio or another big Mexican star had his charisma WWE could really put a lot behind them but Eddie was a rare breed.

Can't believe it's been that long. Partly because back in 2005 I was 13 and back then I would barely be able to remember 10 years ago. So being able to recall a decade ago like it was yesterday feels weird. I actually found out on the Monday. I didn't go on the internet at all on the Sunday and no one said anything to me in school which was weird, but considering I was the only one in my group of friends who still watched(or openly admitted to it, hashtag insecurity) I guess it wasn't all that odd. After I school I got took the bus home and went straight to the library for an hour to check up on WF etc. I went on the WrestlingFigs homepage and saw article headlines such as "Eddie funeral arrangements". And I thought "Eddie who?". At first I figured maybe it was an old legend from way back before I started watching such as Eddie Gilbert(who was dead 10 years by this point), but then decided to check WWE.com just to get the silly thought that Eddie Guerrero have died out of my head. I went to WWE.com and there it was. Total shock.  On the way home I met my friend who was on his way to the library, he already knew. I went back to the house for a bit to dump my stuff then met him back at the library. I sat on here reading through the Eddie thread and looking at WWE.com etc, and printed out a full colour Eddie wallpaper as a "tribute", then after that me and my friend just walked around outside that night just talking about the whole situation and how shocking it was. A year ago today I was at a WWE house show in Glasgow watching my first ever live Chris Jericho match while wearing my Eddie shirt. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted |

Time flies so quickly, I was a 9 year old boy bawling my eyes out because one of my favorite wrestlers passed. Such a loss, though he is out of pain and in a better place right now. I always wonder how his career would have ended up, I could see him going to TNA in 07 or so because the schedule would have gotten too tough for him to handle. One of the most charismatic and technically sound pro-wrestlers in the history of his business and his foot print on the industry will always remain.
Also if no one has checked it out, check out the Talk is Jericho episodes with Chavo, truly heart wrenching stuff.
BTW has a network special or anything been announce for the 10 years? Would be awesome to hear from the current guys how much he influenced them and what not.

I feel so bad because in that time, I was such a kayfabe viewer, and I guess I disliked Eddie so much from his Dominic angle, I didn't really grasp how bad the company lost a performer the day he passed. Growing older, watching his matches back, seeing how much he loved this business, and having a ton of fun, it really hit me about his death. It's kinda funky though, because Benoit and Eddie were two of the first figures I got, they came with a ring, they had the whole rubber limbs thing going on. I would play Legends of Wrestling, when I couldn't win, I'd go mess around with those guys. They were pretty much my first modern day guys I got, at the time, it was all flea market old figures for me, when I was newbie in collecting. So crazy how the time flies by so fast.

I just want to say that if it wasn't for Eddie Guerrero, I wouldn't be here (on this forum) now. I watched wrestling on-and-off from 1998, but 2004 was the year I became a fan. And I became a fan because of one man - Eddie Guerrero. I remember watching the 2004 Royal Rumble and seeing his match with Chavo. I was so impressed by what I saw that I started tuning in to SmackDown on a weekly basis for one sole reason, to watch Eddie wrestle. I remember watching in awe as he won the SD Rumble to become the No.1 Contender for the WWE championship. I watched as he defied the odds and dethroned Brock Lesnar for the gold at No Way Out, as he beat Kurt Angle in 5* match at WrestleMania XX.
I was crushed when he lost the title to JBL, but I still watched. By this point, I'd become invested in WWE as a fan for the first time, and it was all down to Eddie. He was my hero as a child, and when he died, I was devastated. He was the best of the best, and I'm so glad I got to witness that last year of his career. He will always be my favourite, and I will never, ever forget him. R.I.P. Eddie, and thank you!
That's all I wanted to say really.

I didn't know it was humanly possible to dislike Eddie Guerrero, but alright then. As for my post, Eddie was the first wrestler I ever saw compete (as for who he was wrestling - it's probably not a good idea to say his name). He's the reason I'm still a fan today and one of the best wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots. Rest in peace, Latino Heat. |

10 years....man that's unbelievable....his tribute video still brings a tear to my eye. JBL says Randy Orton is what a "Sports Entertainer" would like if you built him from the ground up, but personally I that'd Eddie Guerrero. Thank you for everything Eddie.

Really is crazy. I still remember waking up that morning, logging onto WWE.com and seeing the news. I thought - or maybe I should say I was naively hoping - that it was just some sick joke of a storyline. One of my favorites of all time. I'm glad he at least got to finally win the title before he died.

I can't believe it's been ten years. To me it's felt like five. I remember the day I found out that Eddie died, me, my father, my brother were all in my room watching the press conference when they were discussing what happened. I broke down in tears the night of the tribute show on RAW. He was one of my favorite wrestlers to watch from the moment I liked wrestling. I loved his run with Chyna, and when he and Chavo were a tag team. Almost everything he's done, I've enjoyed. The only regret I have is never having the opportunity to see him wrestle live. R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero, you're still missed after all these years.

This hit me really hard as a kid. Eddie was one of my favorites at the time, and it left me feeling vacant. RIP, thanks for the memories... WHERE THE  WAS VICKIE?! |

A decade? Christ...
From Black Tiger to nondescript ECW to where I saw him in matches that astounded me completely in WCW to the WWE - he was phenomenal at what he did, and a true once-in-a-lifetime talent.
WM XX's post-match celebration gets me every time...
R.I.P Eddie.
