Current NXT Champion Finn Bálor recently appeared on The Taz Show: Bodyslams & Beyond about making the move to NXT from the independent scene and if he wants to be called up to the main roster. Here are the highlights. On making the move to NXT from the independent scene: “It was a lot of adjusting, not only to life at the [WWE] Performance Center, which is like a whole different kettle of fish than the dojos I’m used to, but just the whole adjusting to living in the United States. I was used to living at home in Ireland, which is pretty peaceful, [or] Japan, as its own little thing, and then down here in Florida, which is another completely different kind of environment, so not only transitions in the ring, but a lot of transitions outside the ring too.”
On if he wants to be called up to the main roster:
“A lot of people keep bringing up that question, this ‘when are you getting called up to the quote, unquote main roster?’, but I really believe that the stuff we’re doing down at NXT is going to go down in history as a period of time that has changed the sports entertainment business and I want to be here in NXT and be a part of what we’re doing right now because it really does feel like something special. And there’s this real kind of camaraderie among the boys, [and] really, like, team effort. And it’s something that I’m not in a hurry to step away from. I’m here for the long haul.” Bálor continued, “a lot of people are kind of always focused on what’s coming next and trying to get onto the next thing, but I’m very much living in the moment here at NXT and I’m happy to be flying the flag as NXT Champion.”

Well, I read that he makes more money than everyone else in NXT, so he's good there. Add in what has happened to a lot of NXT guys that got called up and I'd want to stay there too.

Lets seem main event in NXT or get moved up to the main roster and have to curtain jerk for Main Event tapings. Yea Id stay in NXT too. In fact, if I was Neville Id ask to go back to NXT as well. Kevin Owens is really the only one that has left NXT (since it popped up on WWE Network) and has excelled somewhat.

I agree with him completely and hope he never moves up.
By God, maybe I am Finn Balor.

He wouldn't be saying that if he was on a developmental contract. He's already making main roster money playing in the small pond. NXT has been pretty underwhelming lately compared to when Neville, Zayn and Owens were the top guys too. Samoa Joe at the moment seems to be doing a weak Owens rip-off. I hope it picks up again soon.

I don't blame him. Look at Zack Ryder, was brought down to NXT and has been featured more and has won more then being on the main shows. Im suprised more main superstars havent asked to go to NXT. Imagine guys like Sandow and Axel back on NXT.

Ask Neville, Emma, Bo Dallas, The Ascension, and to a degree Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch ( who are stuck playing background characters in groups) how well a call-up worked for them.

In the case of Neville, it seems like WWE said, "Well, it's time to sink or swim." And then they handed him the giant anchor that is a stupid cape and gimmick.
Balor should be scared to death of the main roster. And clearly he is.

Though both are hurting from injuries at the moment, NXT needs him more now than the main roster does.

He is criminally underrated.

LIke some have said, do you really blame him. He goes to the main roster, and Vince and Dunn sink their hooks into him. And since he's not 'one of theirs,' they're not going to try and make him a success, they'll give him one shot, and when he wouldn't instantly get over with the fans, they'd cut him off at the knees. And that's really sad, when advancing to the main shows, is actually a bad thing for your career in WWE.

If I'm in NXT right now, I'd dread getting told that it's time to go up to the "main roster".
I hope Zayn stays down there as well, even if it means I don't get to see Owens/Zayn on the big stage. He would be chewed up, and spit out by Vince & Dunn.

Yep. He also stated this in an interview with Sam Roberts. No surprise he's in no rush. Nobody should be.

NXT is the place to be. No Vince, no Dunn. Perfection.

Balor could be gambling on the expansion of NXT that is coming up. If NXT can become a viable brand, where they tour and generate dollars....Finn could be sitting on an absolute gold mind. NXT has the ECW like cult following. They are putting out a whole new product and attracting eyes. They are basically a modern day ECW. The biggest difference is ECW fell because of inability to manage money and suffer through some losses. NXT will not have that issue. NXT can suffer losses and they will have the money and notoriety to run under the WWE banner.
I think Finn will only have so much room to keep himself in NXT. HHH may be able to stall for a bit, but if Vince decides he wants Finn on the main roster...Finn is going to the main roster. Right, wrong, or indifferent. I think 2016 is gonna be a very interesting year for NXT. If the plans for expansion reach the levels that HHH believes they can, the alternative to WWE might be its own product.
