They are a TRU exclusive here in Canada. Ok Because I thought I read where people found them @ Target also in Canada Nope, we don't have Target in Canada.

When I worked there I couldn't wait for someone to ask Me if something is in the back. I would gladly go look.
Mainly because the sales floor of TRU during this time of year is horrible

I'd probably be a bad TRU employee too...especially around the holidays.
I worked a seasonal holiday job at Macy's in college and it was pure hell. There's no way anyone could pay me enough to deal with all the holiday-buying angst people build up.

I don't think Toys R Us keeps much in the back especially during the holidays. Every time i have went there and asked i always got the same answer. As other people have said too its what they do. The one good thing i like about Target is it will tell you if they have anything in the back. I remember when HOF 1 came out and the guy couldn't locate them at first because they were in a different part of the store.

Its not called lazy, its called probably not having it.
Alot of tru stores dont keep stuff like that in the back, its mainly bikes..bigger stuff and things the floor workers arent aloud to go through.
Its always "store employee was so lazy"
Its xmas time and they are belittled, hassled and down right treated like trash for most likely minimum wage.
Just wait it out. These figure will be clogging shelves.
Dont become "that guy" that store employees loath when they walk through the doors

If it makes you feel better, I used to work at TRU and knew my stuff. I would tell people that what we have is out and people didn't believe me. Then I stopped doing that and I would just walk to the back, sit down for a few seconds and then come back and said I checked and nothing is back there. I did this for 9 years at Walmart... We stocked everyday so we knew what we had

I can only speak for myself but while working at tru we made sure everything we had in the back went out. Especially around the holidays. So there is a chance they didn't have any in the back.

I interrupted some lazy employee talking to his friend about baseball to ask about backstock at target after checking backstock on the scanner. He lied to my face, saying they didn't have any more, and said to go to a different Target to look. A manager actually checked for us and brought out a fresh case of the item in question.
Edit: I asked because there weren't any out on the floor.

It all depends on the employee you have the honest ones who know what they in the back and you have the jerks who don't care,I don't believe in the don't get paid enough to care because they knew the pay and what is expected of them. I've had a few jobs where I was barely making minimum wage but I did what I was supposed to because it was my job. Oh and to you working retail and you know what you have in the back just fib a little and say "I'm sorry I just checked about an hour ago for another customer and we don't have any in back" but only if you really know nothing is back there. Or if you have a pretty girlfriend/wife or friend who's a girl have them ask and see how quick the back is checked.

But Scalpers get to the store when it opens first thing in the morning There are no scalpers for WWE toys anymore, distribution got better and there's no interest in it anymore amongst casual collectors and kids, very little is selling online for enough above retail to make it worth "scalping". My experience has been the opposite. While action figures in general aren't as popular among kids as the were say, in the 80's, WWE figs move quickly around here, while other popular lines like Marvel and Star Wars peg a lot longer.

I've dealt with many lazy employees over the years. This doesn't sound like the employee was being lazy, and just sounds like they really didn't have any in the back. I think the worst was when TRU told me twice over the phone they didn't have Classic Superstars Series 2 on the shelfs back in the day. I called twice because the first time the guy didn't even check, the second time once again a lazy employee. I just went there because I had a feeling they were lying and sure enough they had the whole set except for Dude Love sitting on the shelf.

True. You are probably right about them actually not having it in the back. I'm just pissed off about not finding HOF 3. Fair enough dude. I feel you. It's frustrating when you can't find what you're after.

I've worked Wal-Mart, TRU, and Target. Policies and stocking methods change all the time in retail, but here's what I experienced.
Wal-Mart: It may be in the back, but an employee might not have the ability or training to find the item, scan it, and deduct it from inventory to bring it out. It's an incredibly regimented system that helps no one and no one understands.
TRU: Especially around Christmas, if there's room in front, they'll shove it in front. The back is mostly just for physically large items - bikes, playpens, Power Wheels, etc. Small chance of it in the back, but they're not as high-volume a store as other big box retail. Recent news articles indicate that may be changing due to customer frustration, though.
Target: Intensely customer-focused, so the scan system is easy to operate and usually pretty accurate. It's probably in the back.

TRU 10 years ago carried a heavy volume of merchandise. New owners, people shopping online more, and changing strategies over the years have made it so that TRU carries way less in inventory than it use to. 10 years ago the stockroom was full and now the backroom of most TRUs is very light.
Being a collector with 15 years working at toy stores (11 at TRU and 4 at KB Toys) I can tell that I work my hardest to get product out on the shelf as fast as I can to get it sold. Unfortunately, the quality of seasonal help has dropped off considerably the last few years. To pay a seasonal employee minimum wage for 2 months worth of work you sadly get the dredge of society. Seasonal employees don't want to work and usually don't care about helping collectors. To make matters worse the seasonal employees attendance is awful and that makes a busy toy store short staffed which in turn lowers the quality of customer service. The best piece of advice I can give you is make a good contact with an employee who works all year. Typically they will known their departments very well and be able to hep you. Also asking intelligent questions helps. At Target I always ask the employees at the electronics counter to check a DPCI number. A target employee will respond better to a DPCI number better than to WWE Hall of Fame series 3.
