Now that 2015 is almost in the books, a year that gave us collectors some really nice Flashback figures to add to our shelfs. with the many different Flashbacks this year than recent ones, and the year being what it is, I decided to put together a countdown of my top 15 Flashback Elite figures of 2015.
Things to take in to consideration when viewing this list :
- Only Flashbacks / Hall of Fame figures qualify, so no current Sting, Hogan,…..
- December 2014 saw the release of Elite 33, DM Hogan and HOF Series 1 are last year releases, even though majority on here did not get them till 2015. so those figures are not eligible
- DM Undertaker & Elite 36 DDP were also not considered in my list, as those figures are almost straight up releases. Heck that SDCC taker was everyone's favorite flashback, so it will stay back and rule my top Flashbacks of 2010.
- Honorable Mentions
These 5 deserve a nod, and almost made my list but fell short somehow
Flashback John Cena - A Flashback no one asked for, but is the best Cena IMO yet.
HOF 3 Andre the Giant - Great to see that scan on an elite, wish they stuck with cloth for a singlet though
Elite 38 Macho Man - Had this figure came with a shirt it would of have been top 5, but it didn't so its only a HM. shirt from axe
Elite 39 Sycho Sid - This guy gets a lot of hate, I can see way with the ginger hair. Its still the first Elite Sid and should get a HM
Elite 40 IRS - Nice one here, its just those glasses were really bad and likeness could have been a bit better
Now on to my top 15 Flashback Figures of 2015
# 15
Elite 40 Rick Rude
Not the Rude I was hoping to get, was looking for more of an afro hair style and more colorful gear. This is still a very good figure and the added robe barely sneaks it on my list.
#14
Elite 34 Doink the Clown
This clown is very a nice addition to the line, and came with the first wave of Elites for 2015. My only gripe is instead of the 2 extra head pieces and bucket, we should have got a rubber coat.
#13
HOF 2 Eddie Guerrero
Though the attire maybe a bit inaccurate, its a great figure and a different era Eddie than the Legends 6 Eddie. This guy comes with a shirt and roses, too bad no Mamacita anytime soon.
#12
DM Razor Ramon
This Figure may suffer from poor body parts, but the real reason its this low on my list is the fact that there is nothing about this figure thats DM worthy. Had it been released as part of the Elite line as a flashback it would have ranked higher even with the poor body parts. They also should have gone with a WM 10 Razor with 2 titles, you know his biggest Defining Moment.
#11
Elite 39 British Bulldog
This figure is almost perfect, love the cape choice here and the overall design. However the head leaves a lot to be desired and for that it lands right outside my top 10.
#10
HOF 2 Hulk Hogan
This figure is not liked by many, however with no more Hogan's on the way, this figure should gain new appreciation. I also like the fact that they reused no parts at all from the DM and E34 Hogans. He is also one of only 2 Flashback Hogan's for this year the other being the RSC American Made Hogan. Who does not want a figure of Hogans most selfish moment of all time, We miss you BROTHER!!
#9
RSC Exclusive Scott Hall
I wanted to rank this guy higher on my list, as this time they used better arms and legs than they did for the DM Razor. However instead of a red Outsiders to go with the ultra expensive Nash, we get a black and white Hall instead. They also reused the DM head, instead of a new head like they did with Nash, Hogan and many others, which would of made the 2 figures different.I wanted to ranke it higher on my list as I am Hall mark.
#8
HOF 3 Jimmy Hart
I am not a big fan of figures having screaming faces, but on this case it works perfectly with the mouth of the south. Really a great figure, that would have been suited a s part of a future HOF 4 pack.
#7
HOF 3 Big John Studd
Another one that is long over due, and Mattel really nailed the big man here. Had a robe been part of the deal he would have ranked a bit higher.
#6
Elite 39 Godfather
The figure everyone was saying can not be made with kiddie friendly Mattel. Well not only did they make him, but they made the fu$k out of him. Can not find anything wrong with him at all. only reason he is out my top 5 is that the character was comedy fodder and not that significant, but he sure makes for one sweet flashback.
#5
Elite 35 Earthquake
Another one form the golden era that Mattel perfected, a very unique body type, and I am glad they went with his singles attire as opposed to his ND tag attire.
#4
HOF 3 Bobby the Brain Heenan
The most wanted manger by most, this guy is what collecting all about man. Excellent attire choice WM3, excellent likeness, go ahead put him beside your Andre and enjoy the awesomeness.
#3
Elite 40 Umaga
Next to Godfather this guy is what shocked me when first shown at RSF. The likeness is spot on, the thumb posed hand, everything is amazing with this guy. The fact that I had to set him in hot water and straighten his legs to make stand works against it, as it seems to be a universal problem that can be fixed. an excellent Flashback to end the year with.
#2
DM Sting
All the threads, speculation, delays have made this figure the most talked about figure of 2015. When he finally arrived in the summer, he definitely lived up to the hype and is an excellent effort by Mattel. Crocked bat aside, this figure was an event in the line in 2015 and I am sure he tops many peoples lists, but for me one flashback rules all the others in 2015
#1
RSC Exclusive Shawn Michaels
I am not the biggest HBK fan out there, but I gotta give Mattel huge props for this home run of a figure. Was looking for more of a new gen HBK, and when this was announced it was blah at first. This figure is my pick for the best Flashback of 2015 it has it all detail wise and excellent likeness and parts. make sure to grab one
before he disappears from Ringside.
Below are all the other Flashbacks that were released in 2015, but did not make my top 15 or HM mentions. Again less DM Undertaker and E36 DDP.
Happy New Year to All, lets hope Mattel keeps knocking some of these Flashbacks out of the park in 2016
