I only recently learned who Tugboat is, via accidental ebay browsing suggestions. Thinking this mammoth sailor looked like a pretty nifty guy, I found that there had never been an official release by Jakks. Cue my bright idea, being that I had a Shockmaster figure in my closet that I'd gotten in a bargain bin years ago, and had been planning to ebay someday. He kind of looked like Tugboat, didn't he? Well, thanks to wikipedia, my ignorance was burst since they were the same guy! Sooo, I cracked that guy out of the box, and what follows is my best attempt at a handmade shirt, and the refining of some other details, such as his pants. Hopefully this is the proper forum thread for this, please let me know if it is not! ]

Looks good - most who made him(like myself) just used cloth shirt & pants from Ralph but I like the sculpted pants you did. I also never found a decent hat for mine.

looks really good! Smooth out the legs a bit with some sandpaper so they're not so bumpy and the figure will look even better.

I admit, I was thinking about trying to smooth it out a bit more on the legs. I am glad folks found this one entertaining, and I thank you each for the compliments!

I love it. Simplistic, yet effective. Good work.

What did you use to create that shirt for your Tugboat?

What did you use to create that shirt for your Tugboat? His shirt started life as a red and white striped sock, Slickster. Which was good, because I bought the pair with the hopes of using one as a guinea pig to rough out just what kind of cut pattern I'd need, before making the second one the more refined final product.

Little known fact, but Ralph did make a hat for Tugboat. Just for some reason he never sold it on his store. A member here got one, possibly by special request, and posted pics here. After I saw it I asked Ralph about it, and he made me one too. Ralph was very picky about quality so perhaps he just wasn't happy enough with it to put it up for sale. The only possibly room for improvement I can think of is that it goes straight up at the sides, doesn't tilt out. The shape is more like Faarooq's NOD hat. Still looks pretty good though. RIP Ralph. What did you use to make your hat, garbagemon ? Looks great
