Let me explain the main event:

The Undertaker vs. Finn Balor (NXT Champion)
This makes sense to me. Originally, like most people, I wanted Cena to be in this spot, but now that I think about it, this makes more sense.

The Story: After the Royal Rumble, the following night on RAW, The Undertaker emerges. He cuts a promo about his transgressions from the past. His “demons”. “There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but in order to walk into that light, I must expel my demons or I will not REST IN PEACE.” You could consider this a farewell tour. He really drives it home that WM32 will be his final chapter.

Instead of Kane emerging, Finn Balor makes a shocking debut on Monday Night Raw to challenge The Undertaker at WrestleMania. No better way to make a Mania debut than against Undertaker, right? Balor is certainly on another level than any other superstar and this would be a very appropriate avenue for his debut on the main roster.

The Undertaker scoffs and insists that his last match can’t be to an inexperienced rookie like Balor. Balor tells him that once his demon is unleashed, The Undertaker will go through hell, that he can promise him. This should be a convincing promo. Balor has to really have the conviction.
Now the template is created. Balor wants to beat Undertaker to have the prestige of his very first Mania win over the Deadman. The Undertaker wants to expel his demons one final time with no clear candidate in mind.

The Undertaker likes the fire, the intensity and agrees under one stipulation. He’s gotta go through Kane first at FastLane. This will give The Undertaker just a limited amount of dates to fulfill before Mania. 2 RAWs and the Mania match itself. Balor will be doing all the on-screen work to introduce him to the WWE Universe (for those who don’t watch NXT).

So at FastLane we have our Demon vs. Demon match. Balor beats Kane in the undercard match at FastLane to secure his spot against The Undertaker at Mania. But during this time, Balor is becoming consumed by his Demon. His Demon is taking over. He’s becoming overly aggressive. He’s out of control. After FastLane, his character is darker than it’s ever been. He’s completely overtaken. There is no more Finn Balor. He is a Demon. This will play into The Undertaker’s mind games.

On the go home RAW, The Undertaker emerges one final time on Monday Night to close the show out. Balor and Undertaker have a face to face confrontation, Balor looks like he’s trying to control himself in the ring, but he eventually gets frustrated and hastily exits the ring. He doesn't take the heel route by attacking Taker. Instead he bolts and his inner fighting is really apparent. Back stepping up the ramp while keeping his eyes locked on the Undertaker. He knows this is a match he HAS to win. Once Balor retreats, Undertaker drops to one knee, raises the hand, smoke, lightning. All that. Show ends. “What will happen at Wrestlemania?”

The Undertaker vs. Finn Balor. The old guard meets the future. Balor has since retained the NXT championship, making him a fixture on NXT and RAW, showcasing his in-ring ability on NXT. Showcasing his promo work on RAW and extending an integral link for fans to tune into NXT for a key story line from RAW.

Finn Balor comes out first. His entrance is grandiose. It’s huge. HBK at mania 12 big. I don’t have an exact plan for it, but it almost outshines the match itself, how big it is. The Undertaker comes out to his usual slow, menacing, druid laced entrance. Before the bell rings, the crowd is so electric. “This is awesome” chants are flooding Cowboys Stadium.

This is the first Mania match in awhile where the Undertaker can sort of lay back and let Balor do all the work. Of course, each guy gets in their signature move set. There’s a broken announce table. There’s all kinds of hell.

The finish, it takes 3 tombstones, but Undertaker beats Finn Balor in Cowboy stadium. The story of the match is Finn doing everything he can to put away Taker. Anything and everything. Unleashing hell, but The Undertaker overcomes and finally gets rid of his demons. Immediately after the pin, He sits on his knees with his head held back and eyes shut and takes in the crowd one final time. Electric.

After the pinfall, the crowd is nuts. This is the point where the house lights come on to expose the entire crowd. “The light at the end of the tunnel”. 100,000 fans going crazy for The Undertaker. Balor gets up, obviously disappointed, but Undertaker gives him a handshake, shares a few words, presents him to the crowd and he exits the ring. Now the Undertaker gets to soak it all in. The crowd is on their feet chanting “Thank you taker.” Balor stops at the top of the stage and is then joined by the entire WWE roster. This obviously has to be the end of the show.

Undertaker soaks it in for a long while, then he exits the ring, walks through the roster of men, sharing hugs, handshakes. Hall of famers are there like HBK, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, The Rock. As Undertaker gets to the top of the stage, he is greeted by Vince McMahon who gives him a great big hug. It’s a genuine moment. The Undertaker looks at the crowd, takes a bow, turns his back to them, gives them one final arm raise, then walks through the curtains, leading the roster into the back. And that's the show.

This will be Finn Balor’s coronation to the main roster. Now he’s got the weight he needed. Now he’s got validation that he can go with Taker at Mania. A shot in the arm for WWE and the leader of the new generation. And this could set up for the bullet club to debut on RAW the following night, coming out against Balor to set up for possible AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor match at Summerslam. A great big fued through until Survivor Series, then his focus will be on the WWE title, where he'll snatch the 2017 Rumble and culminate in winning the WWE belt at Wrestlemania 33.
