Hi,
I was wondering if any of the experienced custom creators could maybe do a step-by-step guide on how do to decals on figures? Seen some really nice work out there, and wanted to try this technique.

I've been trying to find someone to make me some decals but everyone seems to be doing it themselves, rather than making a business out of it like Dean used to :/ Buying a whole printer just for the sake of a Dolph Ziggler and Finn Balor trunks design's just doesnt seem worth it haha

I'm considering starting a Youtube channel and this was one of the things I considered making a video about. Decals are a little bit difficult to work with and seemingly require a lot of trial and error to get your techniques down but a video would definitely be helpful to some. I don't have a lot of custom work under my belt, but so far have designed a handful of my own decals and have a lot of previous experience using Photoshop. Here are a few decals I've thrown together: Hollywood Hogan - I designed 2 separate tights designs for each leg, heads and nWo logos for his boots, 'HOLLYWOOD' weight belt, 'HOLLYWOOD' bandana and then I use the 2 different shirt designs. https://www.instagram.com/p/_GWarZlJhq RVD - Simple skull decal for the tiger stripe singlet from 2001 and VANDAM text for the boots. I'm not good on painting details so this one was a must. Seth Rollins - This one is fairly simple, but the belt logo took a bit of manipulation to get all of the colors and shapes correctly for his white attire: https://www.instagram.com/p/_GVQnMlJgS I'm going to start doing more designs here shortly. My printer flaked out on me last month and I just got a new one and haven't even opened it out of the box. I have a lot of different repaints and decals I want to work on here shortly though including full tights designs. Anyone feel free to PM if you have any requests on something and I can let you know if I think I could do it or not.

It would be amazing if you could do a youtube video next time you do one of your decals.

There are some good guides on the figure realm custom section. I used to work with decals when I was a kid, so application is easy enough once you know how. Tepid clean water. Tweezers. Some points. Use good quality decal paper. Use high density images. 600 dpi is recommended. Use photoshop or a similar program so that you can MEASURE your images. Cutting down wastage finding a size. I found a website that identifies fonts. I uploaded a jpeg of letters from "Hollywood" on Hogan's belt, and it found the correct font for me. www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/Not really sure where you can go wrong after that. Finding high quality images is the challenge for me. For example I was going to buy a decal set, but it was missing the decals that I was having trouble sourcing myself.

It comes in colors, foil, and even transparent. If you're applying something like a tattoo that needs to wrap and sink into muscle grooves, you're better off using water slide decals and the softening solution that requires.

I use (for the decals that I sell) Testor's Decal Paper. They have it at most hobby shops or online. Papilio also makes a great decal paper. Just choose the one that goes for your printer (ink jet or laser) and choose clear or white background. Clear for stuff like tattoos, white background for stuff like t-shirts. You can use micro set and micro sol (softeners) but you are ok with just water.
With Ink Jet decals, you will need to seal the paper with a clear coat - if not the ink will run when you wet it. For Laser Printed decals no sealing is required.

Never made for figures, but for band equipment and for drag strip races i was a part of.
I would get the vector image and paper and have them do it at staples.
Their industrial printers worked awesome for detail and what not.
