I liked Test, but he was never going to be a legit main event player with the name Test. I don't know, Edge managed to do it. And Triple H. And The Rock. And Big Show.

"Once" my ass. Test was the absolute ing man. In all aspects. One of my favorites ever. I'm currently running through 1999 and just finished his SSlam match with Shane. And my lord the crowd was so hot for him. And they popped like it was Liz and Randy when Stephanie came out after for the big hug. Test is one of the biggest missed opportunities in WWF/E history.

That's an awesome story! Even cooler that it was in Baltimore. I always forget Stacy was from here. Yeah, I got in touch with my dad a little while ago and he informed me that it was Tennessee, not Vegas, where Test had hoped to retire and open his own strip club. I must have confused his post-wrestling plans with those of Charles Wright/The Godfather. No state tax in Tennessee must have been a big draw for him, but he also owned 434 acres of land down there. My dad says he never knew what became of the land. My dad reminded me that the phone message Test left on our answering machine was about a custom candy apple red Corvette he was having built over a period of four months and he wanted to know if he could write it off lol. It was supposed to cost around $80,000 and he told my dad that he planned on driving it everywhere, including shows. It was Stacy's parents who came to him first after being recommended by their next door neighbor. They still come to him nearly a decade and a half later. Stacy and Test moved on to another accountant back then because my dad told them upfront that he wasn't as familiar with international tax law and that was something they needed. The greatest travesty of all was not them leaving, it was that Stacy was this close to recommending my dad to Trish Stratus and possibly Torrie Wilson before plans changed. My dad says all three were living together to save money in those days, and good lord I don't even want to imagine the possibilities of my pre-teen self getting to meet Trish. Every part of my body in that period would've died if I met either of those three haha. Such a shame. Test seems like such a simple dude though, it's cool hearing these random ass stories of guys you hardly know.

I liked how he'd pretend to fix his hair whilst looking at Teddy Long's (then a referee) bald head as if it was a mirror.
Heh.

He was super over during that whole thing, but so is Roman. And you see how that's going. The crowd eats up anyone who beats up a McMahon. Problem with Test is he was rarely interesting. He honestly just looked like a dumb guy with a great look. He wasn't terrible by any means, and had a moment of pure awesomeness which is why I made the thread. But I can't imagine a world where Test was ever on par with Austin, HHH, Rock, Foley, Angle, etc. Perhaps today, he could've gone alot further.

Test became %100 more interesting to me when he cut his hair and switched to tights. Didn't hurt to have Stacy Keibler with him. I was a testicle!

It is interesting to think what could have been. I'd love to see a discussion on how to book Test's storyline with Triple H after the wedding. Imagine if at Survivor Series 1999, it was Test vs Rock vs Triple H, instead of Big Show. Holy . Blew my own mind.

I liked Test until the Invasion stuff. Was never a fan after that. He was just irritating by 2003, and not in the way a heel should be.

Test certainly had the potential to be viewed as a more athletic Kevin Nash in his 99 run. But the regular heel/face turns just killed my interest in him pretty quickly. I will say i think they missed the boat a bit after he debuted in ECW. A big fish in a smaller pond at that point, that was their chance to totally rebuild him into a pissed off ununstoppable monster heel. I know that was their original plan, but they just sort of dropped it cold. He was a solid hand in the ring for a while though. But even though i would have personally booked him to be more effective if it was up to me, i still dont think i ever saw world championship material there.

Its funny I had a lol moment watching Judgement Day 2003. It was Test and Scott Steiner vs. La Resistance, and at one part of the match he grabbed one of there Beret's and started wearing it.

I always liked him, especially in 99.

I was never really a fan. I found him extremely uninteresting and boring most of the time, and never really bought into him seriously. He wasn't bad at all, he just wasn't interesting.

I thought he had a lot of untapped potential. Truthfully.
However, he came in against a stellar class. The Hardy's, Angle.

Happy to see all this praise for Test. Loved him with Albert, Keibler, ECW run. This is a Test.

I liked Test, but he was never going to be a legit main event player with the name Test. Still a better name than "The Big Show" and he's been a main event player. Just saying. I was a big test fan during the HHH/Steph angle. I too wanted to see the pay off with him taking in HHH but it never panned out. It's a shame his story has a sad ending much like a bunch of the guys from that era.
