So I've been collecting the Mattel line since March 2011 or so. I remember my mom found a Legends 3 Rock from a discount store for like $8. I was actually kinda surprised she bought it 'cause I hadn't mentioned collecting WWE figures in a while. Needless to say, I fell in love with Mattel and bought up pretty much everything that looked cool. I primarily collected Elites and some basic Divas. Then last year, Jurassic World came out last year and being a HUGE Jurassic mark, I bought up everything there too. I realized I couldn't collect them both and ultimately, Jurassic won. It's easily my biggest passion and collection with WWE being a close second. I stopped collecting Mattel since March of 2015. Which is going on a YEAR since I've been outta the game. It wasn't really a big deal since I was collecting Jurassic World stuff, but now that it's passed, and WrestleMania season is upon us. I'm feeling the itch again. I have ALWAYS collected WWE stuff. Ever since I became a fan in 1998. As much as I love the hobby, I realized somewhat how much of a burden it is. I mean, $20+ for a figure, more for an exclusive, shopping online, hitting up stores, making calls, etc. It's crazy! So now I'm debating if I should completely purge the collection or try to get the figures I missed in 2015 and keep going. I think all of us can agree that Mattel Elites are the best wrestling figures ever made. A collection is so easy to maintain, but once you take a break, it's daunting to jump back in. I'm not in a bind financially or anything, but I guess I'm just wondering about the endgame. When is enough enough? I guess the year off allowed me to see how much I had and realize that I didn't need so many. I've also realized that these figures are worth some good money too. It's tough when the returns can be so high. IDK, I guess I'm just typing out loud. Has anyone else gone through any of this before? Any thoughts or opinions about what you did? Thank you for any feedback!

The wwe figs will always be there. Jurassic world has come and gone. There will always be something new that you might go crazy for, but its usually something that will pass. But that wwe stuff...itll always call to you. Maybe slow down when you find something else, but dont get out completely. Catching up is hard to do.

Ive been collecting dine the mid 80s, have a ton of stuff, a room devoted to it all even. I probably wont ever stop bc it is something I enjoy. I can never see myself selling any of it so value is cool and I like knowing its worth something but the enjoyment of the hobby is my endgame and purpose.

I have collected WWE figures since LJNs back in the 80s. I had almost every Jakks figure made and had acquired quite an impressive collection of Mattel stuff as well (only collecting 80 and Attitude Era Mattel figures), but I just gave up one day and quit cold turkey.
I have sold or given away almost everything I owned and have decided to focus mostly on 6" Star Wars Black figures.
I think I just gave up when the current WWE product (the actual shows, ppvs, etc... not necessarily Mattel) started getting so bad. The current roster is a mess and the same matches week after week, month after month, show after show, ppv after ppv, just left a bad taste in my mouth.
I lost interest in the product the toys represent, so I bit the bullet and made the move to get rid of my collection.
I have no regrets.

I had to bow down to collecting alot use to have one figure of every guy and gal ever made from Elite basic deluxe impact nwatna WCW ruthless final count r3 bca even lucha Walmart stuff.
However in tough times I decided to sell off elites and everything else except basics which was bitter sweet. Basics have a huge variety but had to lose key figures like rikishi,Bundy, umaga, rude, jbl,Nash, xpac. I decided it's easier to get the basics which may have limited movement but easy on the wallet during these difficult times. Will I give up when I'm in the navy and after my 4-8 years probably not but I will likely bow out if and when Mattel gives up there license deal with WWE.

Collect what you want. If you have the biggest passion for something, collect it and only buy the WWE figures you really want, which I'm guessing would be legends.

I pretty much have. I used to collect all the Elite and elite bodied figures but I fell so far behind that I don't really have an interest in keeping up. My last Elite series was 34. I still look at the protos but thats about it.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said, "What is the end game"
It became unacceptable to my missus to have toys all over the house, so I moved house...
Now they have a large room, but I ran out of space there too.
MOC collecting, is a space hog.
I made the decision in Nov 2014 to collect loose. I backdated everything by buying massive collections.
I've been selling stuff I don't want anymore, and slowly but surely I am making my way toward things I thought I wouldn't sell. It's very time consuming but I am getting good money for things. If I put up 50 things at a fairly high price, I'm finding that I sell 20-30, and that gives me room to play with on the stuff that has probably lost value.
But back to the original point, what's the end game? My buddy asked me that very question.
I am now making a history of wrestling display, which will probably have around 1000 figs. I will display my He-man, Thundercats, original Star wars 3.75 inch figs, WWE Hasbro's, Hot Toys collections, Replica belts, transformers, and some other bits.
After that, I think 90% will be sellable at the right price.
I think I am up to over 3000 figs now loose and MOC. It's not sustainable!!

If Mattel said, "no more Ultimate Warrior figures" I'd bow out. Otherwise no chance

There is a lot of reputable research studies that will mess will your mind. In short, if you no organization skills with your collection then you are just hoarding and you're probably miserable. But, if you have an organized collection then you are fine. Health collecting habit is to just collect what you want. I true sign of healthy collecting is begin able to acquire and let go of figures without remorse and you have no internal struggle with making decision about your collection. People thin out their collections all the time and tastes change. The more you worry about your collection, the more your collections controll you.

Once Mattel is done then I'm done with wrestling figures. I could dabble in whoever gets the license next, but there is no way I can afford rebuilding this collection with a new brand.
As for other lines, I like collecting VERY SELECT movie figs from NECA and others (I think I have six total). I'd love for someone to make some boxers in 6/7-inch form (Ali, Foreman).

Exactly how I feel. I couldn't start again with a new brand, not again. Also love Neca, Figuarts, Mafex, Revoltech, Figma, Play Arts. I collect way too much stuff

I TRY to be a bit more selective in what I buy most recently. for the WWE stuff I only collect elites unless its a really cool basic I cant resist(which is rare) or I know the character wont get an elite OR I get the character to fill the collection not to pay the elite pricing. I just got the ascension 2 weeks ago and who knows if they will get elites and I prob wouldn't buy them anyway so $22 for both was ok vs like $45 for both elites.
I collect a bunch of other stuff too whicj include 1/6 scale, batman play arts, dc collectibles, walking dead mcfarlene 5", and some other ransom stuff. it can get expensive and take a ton of room up so yeah trying to be selective
