I've seen repainted Cena's with a better likeness. I remember when Defining moments actually gave us good outfits belts stuff like that, now this is basically an Elite figure? should have gotten the macho man jacket at the very least...

Thoughts? 3 complaints: 1. I dont like the sculpt. Straight faced. Why the teeth? Not needed. Jakks nailed their sculpt perfectly. 2. Molded jacket. I'm sorry, but Mattel needs to find it in their budget for cloth, ESPECIALLY for DM figs. Can you imagine if this jacket was cloth? 3 The boots?! WTF?!?! They were better served in using the current Sting boot mold vs. the laced up boots. Hell, kickers would have been better. I dont expect them to make a whole new mold for this. But then again, Sting has an infinite number of attires. So a new boot mold would have served its purpose over and over and over. I will more than likely pick this up. It still looks decent. But it had the potential to be amazing.

What about the face?
and what torso does he have?
Kinda looks like the e33 Bluetista torso. I think you might be right.

These are images of a pre-production sample. Most of our official images are from such samples, which are the last ones I review before they are finalized.Sometimes I am able to catch late errors before production, as with the Renee Young figure. The boots are being changed to be more accurate. The 1st run will be the laced boots. The rest of the run will be corrected boots. Jacket being molded was an aesthetic decision based on the facts 1) Sting's arm streamers were much thinner and more numerous than Macho Man's. If I used a SG jacket he would have streamers the same size as Macho Man's, which I did not want (they have to be a certain size to avoid choking hazards, no way around it). 2) I would also have lost the epaulets on the shoulders. If I would have produced a SG jacket with wide arm streamers and no shoulder epaulets I would have heard the feedback as well I am sure. While Im glad the boots are being changed, and will wait for the 2nd run now..I have to ask. I know you're not a fan of most of the board here but seeing as you do have access to a large chunk of collectors...Instead of being in fear of feedback AFTER a figure is made, why dont you ask collectors BEFORE the figure is made? You have a great resource with this website. If you come and say "Hey we can do it this way but you wont have this, or we can do it this way and you wont have this...which do you prefer?" you can still get feedback from a majority. And Im willing to venture when it comes to Flashbacks, unlike the current product, collectors are majority and not just a random kid on the street.

Bill, please design a different Surfer Sting headsculpt for future releases. We need a serious scan or a smiling scan. Thank you, sir.

The figure is okay, the hair looks strange to me. I was never going to buy this one so I'll pass but I hope the rest of you enjoy it If it goes on sale or becomes really cheap I might pick it up but I was hoping for a yellow attire surfer Sting preferably Elite. Hopefully we get a Sting 4 pack after he goes in the HoF which I would like to include a surfer Sting, WCW Crow, Wolfpack and WWE Crow.

Only problem with that is people are always negative these days. So it's just asking for unwanted stress. I'm sure he hears crap from his bosses like everyone else who works. Why would he want to hear more crap. If this board wasn't so negative I would agree with your idea, but that's not the case. These are images of a pre-production sample. As a loose collector this feels completely off-base to charge almost $27.00 after tax for a somewhat plain looking Flashback. The DM line is gonna die again if they don't start understanding the purpose of the line.

Now remember.... Bill used to be on often. Creating threads for input, discussing suggestions, explaining why certain details were the way they are, and taking criticism to mind and fixing problems (as they just did with closed fist Renee.)
But no matter how much he tried, he was sh*t on. Some times in a completely non criticism but personal attack formality.
Criticism and creative thinking is def how the mass market gets products they desire. And is great for Mattel (they sell more product) and us (we get what we want).
But after the last rsf run and the garbage people were shouting at him, and his personal integrity, I dont think you can blame them for taking a step back from the boards they were cohesivley creating new products for, with the fans.
This product has flaws, as many do, and by respectful criticism we've already got a boot change. Keep pointing out errors, and they will keep working to make better products. But remember its not a lack of effort, it was poor attitudes on this board that spoiled it.
