So I just bought a new jakks ecw Ariel figure, when I got her out of the plastic she was all sticky with factory residue of some kind.
I went to rinse her off in the sink with soap and water and the paint on her bra just fell right off.
The parts it did looked like it was globbed on, ive seen a used ariel figure on ebay that was exactly like this.
Was this a factory error of some sort? Her boots and arm bands are fine, so I am really confused.

This is a very common thing with Jakks figure unfortunately. Usually the softer plastic parts of the figure would get sticky (most likely because of the heat) and any paint that is close to that softer plastic part will stick to it removing the paint. It happened to lots of my Jakks figures.

This does suck, today I just bought a moc classic series Sheri ( white attire to go with my Mattel HBK ) and her shirt was the same way sticky . Is there anyway to solve this ?

This same issue happened with my Ariel, Sensational Sherri, and Terry Gordy.

Wow, I thought you guys were in my apartment.
I opened both a classic Sherri and ECW Ariel last month after keeping them MOC for years. Both had the sticky problem. Sherri's was way worse, though. The white paint on her bra COMPLETELY rubbed away within the first ten minutes of me opening it and playing with poses. Ariel I handled a bit more gently, so paint didn't get screwed up. My solution? Repaint and Gorilla Glue the original outer clothing on for good.

To add on what I said in my last post I had this happened to my Deluxe Sting Impact figure the plastic coat sticked to his singlet taking the paint off and I was pissed, but most of the time it was the long plastic hair on the diva figures that would stick on the bra and remove the paint. I solved the sticky plastic problem by rinsing it with soap and cold water and the stickiness was gone. As for it touching the paint I put a small paper in between the softer plastic and the plastic with paint on it.
