This season I have to find a new team to root for because Stan Kroenke and the Rams took a giant crap on me and the entire city of St. Louis. Chiefs seem like the most logical choice because I'm halfway between St. Louis and Kansas City anyway.

Well the L.A. Rams just cut Chris Long, James Laurunaitis (PEOPLE POWER!) and Jared Cook in a move that is being looked at as a salary cap move. The move will save the Rams roughly 25 Million in cap space this upcoming year. Clearly the Rams are expecting to bring in some big free agents if they're cutting some of there "star" players even though Laurunaitis said in his thank you to the team his production was crap. All I'm hoping for is another Ohio State Alum to come home to the Browns.

I'd be thrilled with any of those 3 in Atlanta.

Hate seeing Miller retire. The guy was the prototypical tight end. Guess Ben's go to will be James now. Should be interesting.

I'm not surprised that the Rams are shedding contracts since they need big name player(s) because if you wanna make it big in LA you gotta have star power.

They're big name to hardcore fans, and Rams fans, but if you ask a casual fan who Big Johnny's nephew is, they won't have a clue. Not knocking Laurinitis's skills, he's amazing, but I liken him to Timmons here in Pittsburgh, diehard NFL fans know him, as do Steelers fans, but go ask a random, for example's sake Chargers fan, who he is and they'll probably look at you funny. Now Gurley, Gurley's star power. Build around that.

I have no doubt they'll build around him on offense since their WR corps is garbage (Tavon Austin is a good weapon but not a #1 WR) but they will go after big names and get into win now mode, i don't see them in the playoffs since the NFC West is a tough division but they can try and compete.

Sure they can. There's no reason the Seahawks, Cards and Rams can't all make the playoffs. NFC East isn't producing a wild card team. NFC South could if the Falcons learned how to not implode, but I wouldn't bet on it. So that leaves the Packers/Vikings. I don't think the Vikings are as good as their record indicated this season, even with the victory over GB. They're good enough to make the playoffs but there's no reason the Rams can't compete if they build right in the next year or two...because like I said, the other divisions aren't exactly putting out talent for WC berths.

The NFC is terrible and won't improve in a year unless something dramatic happens. The West however is going to be the division to watch, The 49ers won't do much but The Cards and Seahawks should be neck and neck down the stretch since both teams have a top 3 defense. We'll see over the next few months what the Rams do.

So, looks like Antonio Cromartie's second tour with the Jets is over. But, hey Eagles fans, Malcolm Jenkins signed a 5-year extension.

Considering the three other major league teams owned by Kroenke (Nuggets, Avalanche, and Rapids) have been around or below .500 the past few seasons, I wouldn't expect the Rams to be real playoff contenders for awhile. Kroenke is terrible at running a sports franchise, and that's not just the resentful Rams fan in me talking. His teams are consistently at the bottom in attendance and rarely, if ever, are they legit contenders.
Todd Gurley is the face of their franchise, but I don't expect much from their front office in terms of building around him. We couldn't do that with Sam Bradford, and Jeff Fisher and Les Snead are to blame. L.A. will not have a winning football team as long as Fisher is their head coach.

RG3 is out of Washington and Marques Colston is out of New Orleans. Yikes.

Wow, I haven't been on these forums in forever. Surprised my account still exists, although it took me about 10 tries to figure out what the password was. Anywho, it's gonna be one long off season.
