Not a big articulation guy. It can take away from the sculpt of the figure. But the scuplts on the elites look better than the basics to me. Even with the ab crunch.

I love elites and I like the ab crunch.
The one thing I don't like is just at that price when they have bad paint apps or not so great headscans or accessories that make the figure feel incomplete.

Well..... I play with both my basics and elites. Real men play with toys. And wear skirts. Are you seriously going to s**** on people who play with their figures? Not cool bro. Edit: lol just realized it's a headbangers reference. Slipped right by me lol. No hard feelings.

My body bends there, so a figure that wants to be realistic should also

I used to hate it but I think it's essential for articulation purposes.

It is what separates the average collectors from the elite collectors. I collect elites and display (pose) them loose. I don't think the ab crunch is an issue. My eyes still marvel in awe of them.

I actually prefer the torso swivel, like marvel universe line had, over the ab crunch. But the ab crunch is part of the articulation increase.

I love the ab crunch. Makes the figure more articulated (obviously) and also makes it look more "powerful" to me for some reason. It's like the ultimate action figure.
What I don't like about Elites are the following:
- legs cannot usually bend backwards. - Arms and legs are often stiff and hard to move. - Feet often do not move even though the way they're molded suggests they should, just like they used to.

I could take or leave the ab-crunch. The heavyweight elite torso sculpts are waaayy better than the basics. Honestly, if they needed to save money, they could take away boot articulation and make the boot one solid piece. The ankle-rocker is frozen like 95% of the time, and the pivot only helps slightly for posing.
You wanna know the most important part of the elite body? The ball jointed legs!!! I could live with no ab-crunch, but if they changed the legs, Elites would RIP.
If they were to "merge" the basic line and the elite lines with a basic body with elite legs they could make only one figure line and make them super detailed and have better accessories!!!
Did I just single-handedly save Mattel billions of dollars, or piss off a lot of collectors....I'm not sure

the ab crunch is fantastic for posing, even just the slightest bend can change a whole stance and gives that much more life to the pose. However the most vital joint to the elites are the hip joints. The hip joints are what separate good action figures from hot garbage like basics. I cant stand basics and have only bough a few strictly for headsculpts.

I wouldn't buy Elites if they didn't have the ab crunch. That's the whole point of elites is extra articulation Same.

Don't give Mattel any ideas, the ab crunch is fine as is. (Except the very loose ones, Bradshaw I'm looking at you)

It looks like crap for display, takes away a lot from the accuracy, if you like to play I suppose it makes it easier
