Alright my brethren, I have cracked open my first 2 torsos (what a B****)now I need some advice on how to glue them back together. I am only using one (D.Bry) and when I try to put it back to see how big the cracks are the top part doesn't want to close as good as the bottom (waist) does? I tried cleaning and sanding to remove the old glue and warps but still off a bit. Also where do you glue? I don't want to accidentally glue a moving part. Also, is there an easier way than boiling water? It takes HOURS and once the plastic is warn enough to work with, the deformation is much easier to make. I thought I read somewhere that someone uses Goo Gone? I don't know how y'all guys crack them open without dents and chips

It shouldn't be taking hours for this. It usually takes me no longer than 20 minutes to crack a torso, especially the new ones.
I only use the boiling water, but some people like the blow dryer method more.
1. boil the water, pull off once you reach bubbles.
2. put figure in the water for 5-7 minutes
3. flat head screwdriver behind the shoulders apply slight pressure to start to pry apart the torso.
4. if it doesn't come apart easy, boil again. rinse and repeat until they come apart.
5. for the abs, I have a thin knife I slide down into the top seam, and twist gently. pops them right open.

Sorry it took so long to respond, Thanks Man! I tried it and it worked a lot better. Check out my custom thread, I'm almost done with the WIP

Here's something I wrote before, after seeing a video on here using the boiling water method. Food for thought: Can you guys ask Mattel about the glue's properties? They never answer any of my emails to customer service. As for the warped neck area, yeah, it sucks. Try heating the figure again, squeezing the parts together, then dunking them in cold water until they sit right.

I doubt Mattel would answer a question about their glue.
I used a heater to loosen up some figures recently and it worked just as well as hot water. Just don't leave em on there too long. Warped the hell out of a jakks torso by forgetting about them.

I doubt Mattel would answer a question about their glue. That's disappointing, but I would think the customizing community would make a greater effort to ask these things since it's such an important part [obstacle] of the hobby.
