My trip to NXT Asbury Park.

Just a caution, all my pics are low quality from my Iphone.

Last night was my second time seeing NXT in person, (the first being Takeover: Brooklyn) and last night legitimately did not feel like a house show. The atmosphere in the Convention Hall felt like it was being broadcast on the Network.

When I first arrived to the Hall around 4pm, Bayley, Carmella and NXT Ref Shawn Bennett were in the Grand Arcade at the Coffee Shop meeting and taking pictures with fans! Bayley and Carmella were taking individual pictures and they both were super nice! Although I didn't get an individual pic, Bayley called for a group pic to make things easier! She even posted the picture on her IG!

Definitely two of the nicest wrestlers I have ever met.

In the Con Hall, every seat is a good seat!



Now to the action..

Our first contest was Asuka vs. Alexa Bliss.

The best women's match of the night IMO. Asuka is amazing, you have to see her live to really appreciate how great she is. The crowd was nearly split between Bliss and Asuka which surprised me.
Winner: Asuka by Submission.

Second contest is Apollo Crews vs. Alex Riley
The crowd pretty much saw A-Ry as a joke. A pretty competitive match, but not the best of the night.
Winner: Apollo Crews by Pinfall.


The third match-up featured "The princess of New Jersey!" Carmella vs. Peyton Royce.
Pretty funny match with a nice flower spot. Crowd chanted Poison Ivy at Peyton.
Winner: Carmella by Submission.

Tag Team action in the fourth contest, featuring the Vaudevillians vs. Enzo and Big Cass.
The damn pop. I can't put into words how loud the NJ crowd was for Enzo. They cut a long promo about their Jersey Shore roots, Springsteen and Cass even sang a little bit of Jersey Boys. My second favorite match of the night with a lot of high drama.
Winners: Big Cass & Enzo by Pinfall.


Now a 15 minute Intermission.

After the Intermission, it's Elias Samson vs. Austin Aries!

Elias came out to really loud boos, even referring to Asbury as Ass-bury Park. He isn't very liked. This match seemed similar to Crews vs. Riley.
Winner: Aries by Pinfall.

NXT Women's Championship Action is up next. Bayley defends against Eva Marie. The heat on Eva can be described as Atomic. Eva got a lot of offense in this match but came up short.
Winner and still Champion: Bayley by Pinfall.


Main Event Time. A tag team grudge match! NXT Champion Finn Bálor and Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe and Baron Corbin.
Baron is out first.

Followed by his partner, Samoa Joe. His music was loud, but it has grown on me.

Out next is Sami to an eruption of Ole! chants! The crowd also sang his theme.


Finn is out next and next to Enzo and Cass, probably the biggest pop of the night.


Best match of the night. Finn played the Ankle a lot. Equal offense on both sides, a very physical brawl.
Winners: Sami and Finn by pinfall.

After the show, Sami wore Finn's jacket, Finn wore Sami's hat and coat, and they both hugged to end the show.
