www.wrestlingnespamource.com/n...ns-WWE-Return/Source: Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer "Shane's return, this time around was reportedly agreed upon a few weeks ago and although he is playing for power on screen he does not hold a managerial position with the company at this stage, but that could always change. In a twist of storyline meeting reality, Shane legitimately felt he would be the 4th generation McMahon to run the WWF/E but his Sister Stephanie had surpassed at the time due to her "product knowledge," something which a lot of people knew at the time but Shane. Vince had to inform his son at the time that Stephanie and Triple H would be running the company, which ultimately lead to a real-life family rift and Shane leaving his CEO position in 2010. There is said to be a "significant amount of life imitating art" in what Shane said during his promo. Apparently there's is also a belief that a real-life power struggle will occur if Shane's fully back in the picture backstage. Melzter also noted that while Shane might be well received on screen with fans hoping he takes "control" of WWE, in real life people wouldn't be as receptive to Shane if they knew about his booking ideas, this is why Vince went with Stephanie running the company and not him. He claims that "almost everybody that I know personally liked Shane over Stephanie but, when it came to ideas when it came to wrestling, when it came to wrestling angles, it was Stephanie and Paul (Triple H) are so far ahead of him that it's not even funny."

I have heard that from a working standpoint, mostly everyone prefers Shane over Stephanie.
I never knew about these horrible booking ideas though.

Shane's ideas are probably anti-Reigns. Vince wouldn't like that.

Can his ideas really be any worse than Vince deep throating us with Roman Reigns every single week?

If Stephanie's creative ideas are better than Shane's, then yikes.

I'm in mix, Shane is my Favorite Wrestler (Me and Xavier Woods know what's what), but it's the ing Undertaker, It would be cool if Shane Jumped off the top of the Cell onto the Undertaker or he could jump from one side of the cell wall to another side for Coast to coast, or-or he could do the Foley spot except the table would be on fire...I would make a fantastic booker.

This isn't the first time Shane's booking acumen as been called into question, Meltzer isn't introducing anything new here.
I suspect this is just an on screen thing out of desperation to bulk up Wrestlemania. I think Shane could contribute a lot in an on-screen role long term, though.
At the end of the day, the argument of Shane vs. Stephanie/Hunter is largely irrelevant, because Vince is still the one running the show, and that doesn't seem poised to change any time soon. Even if Shane is placed in a full time on screen authority role, Vince's erratic booking, illogical fascinations, and detrimental tendencies are all going to be very much present.

I'm sorry... But I can think of ZERO people that have sat there and thought "Man! Wouldn't it be cool if Shane McMahon came back".He was ok back in the day, but does anybody even care anymore. On the list of retro/nostalgic people that the audience would have liked to bring back, no way he was anywhere near the top of the list. We can't get Austin, Punk, Bryan, or Lita back, but we can get SHANE MCMAHON!!! If his match with the Undertaker lasts longer than 5 seconds that makes the Undertaker lose credibility. Didn't Shane leave the WWE for a better life and career? Yes, the WWE is a nepotistic tyranny, but this might actually be to far, too much. WWE keeps finding reasons for me to not watch wrestling in general. Yes, there have been. Many times.

Shane's return - AWESOME. McMahon Power Struggle Storyline - I'm on board. Shane returning to the ring at Mania - hell yeah. Shane facing THE UNDERTAKER - WHAT THE ?!? Doesn't that just sound like the most random of booking decisions? It sounds like an 11-year old playing video games and he chooses the most random of opponents to fight inside the Cell. Taker vs Shane, I just don't get it. This would make Taker the heel by default since he's fighting for Vince and opposing what Shane wants. There has to be some twist coming in the next few weeks on Raw, doesn't there? Like Taker refusing to fight for Vince? Or does Shane opt out of the match, convince his dad to let him have a representative take his place, and that's how we get Taker vs Cena? That Raw opener just left me baffled. It was so out of left field. But if there is some twist coming where it leads to Taker vs Cena in the end, just call me a mark who they have on the hook right now, lol.

I thought about Shane and Taker's match all night, and I just can't rap my finger around it. The only way I would enjoy this match if Taker came out with the American Bada*s gimmick. Throughout the last few Manias I have gotten all of the slow
moving, tired, old, deadman, that I can handle. I just can't see a fast moving, full of energy Shane-O-Mac having a successful match with the deadman gimmick Undertaker. I think Taker should go out as the American Bada*s. I would rather watch the
American Bada*s vs. Shane, than The Deadman vs. Shane. Just my opinion. What do you all think? It's Texas, why not go huge.

The twist is going to be that it could have been posted in the other 50000 threads on the topic.
Edit: Dammit, the twist was that marino13 moved it into one of the other 5000 threads on the topic! Even I got swerved.

Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon. That still hasn't sunk in. I'm so pumped for it. Two of my all-time favourites inside the Cell at 'Mania? Damn. It's going to be awesome!
