There's a ton of good bodyweight workouts on YouTube too. (There's a lot of crap there also). Obviously the strength with dissipate in terms of bench/squat/deadlift etc, but there are some guys with some seriously impressive physiques and a ton of strength who rarely touch a weight. Body weight workouts make you very; lean and defined if done right and aggressive. I've seen some inmates at county jail; get pretty defined from just doing dips;push ups; and other stuff while still eating like garbage.

Don't mean to triple post; but my shreds going well. Going to weigh in maybe sometime next week; not very concerned with weigh ins. Anytime I do shred I only lose 4-10 pounds on the scale. Started at 231; I expect maybe to get down to 225 if that. I usually run a 12-14 hour fast.
So far this has been the week's plan.
Day 1 Shoulder/Tricep/ Bicep Day 1 followed by 2 mile post workout run and a half mile walk.
Day 2 Cardio Centric day. 1.50 Mile Run; followed by 1.25 walk. Followed by another 1 mile run. Followed by another 3 miles of walking. Mainly trying to work on endurance in overall running further distance. I was doing 4 miles during my last shred in one go.
What the rest of the week will look like
Day 3 Shoulder/Triceps/Biceps Day 2 with some sort of speed based post cardio workout. I am betting on doing quarter mile sprint on the treadmill; and a 1 mile on the Bike Machines. I am doubting; i'll go on actual distance run. Just because; my legs feel pretty damn sore.
Day 4 Chest workout/Back day maybe a mini bicep workout. I wanna be a winner and say i'll throw in some cardio. But it's going to be none intense; like walking my doggos. And I don't want to push myself to far. But I plan on 3 rest days; but I still walk my dogs on those days.

Last night was the first time in about a month that I worked out. I definitely got lazy from the holidays but I definitely want to get back on track and also start incorporating different workouts into the routine.

My shredding has been odd; I think it's working? Lately I bloat really bad from working out; and I think I been putting my body through a lot of stress on top of my actual stress. Been thinking about cutting down more of the weight lifting to keep the shred running; but I always hate losing strength.
Sunday I ran .30 of mile on treadmile; then did progressive incline rise till I hit 1.50 and then hit the bikes for mile; and did series of core workouts Monday I ran 2.30 miles; then walked out another .70 to get the 3 mile total. Tuesday I ran 1.75 then walked out the rest to hit 3 mile total Wednesday I took as rest day from the running. Thursday Military Press/Barbell Lateral raise/ Chest-Tricep Extension Tricep rope extensions/ Barbell Curls/ Reverse Barbell curls/ Core Workout I really don't know the name but it's like weighted crunch. Friday Hammer Curls/Side Lateral raises/ Pulley Curls/Pulley Reverse curls/ Weighted Machine Dips/DBell Shoulder press Another Core workout; that is modified weighted crunch/
My strengths been going up; but I still put on decent deficit. So; something is wonky.

I try to stay away; from macro counting just because I feel it messes with my mental health. And it drives me insane. I think Im getting lots of sodium somewhere; and I am going to look at it. Carbs isn't to bad. For the most part; I wake up and eat 2 servings of oatmeal Nature Valley Protein Bar Whey Protein Dinner typically is Salmon and Rice/ Stirfry/ 2 Lean Ground Beef Patty with Half a bun or no bun at all sometimes/ My girlfriends cooking; sometimes 2-3 tostadas with ground beef/ whole beans/cheese and Brown Rice It could be carbs; who knows at this rate.

no worries, I was asking as from my own experience when I'm carb loading my body holds more water. as long as you're getting those workouts in, which it sounds like you are, then no biggie.
I've been having trouble with motivation during this current lockdown with no gyms open. I'll have to change that soon.

private gyms are currently slated to reopen on the 16th...very hopeful for this as finding motivation to work out at home has been downright unfeasible at times.

I have a disgusting diet. Pizza, hot dogs, burgers. No fruits or vegetables. No "healthy" meats like steak, just McDonalds and Wendy's. I'll go days where I'll only eat chips and cookies. I drink 6 coffees a day (1 milk 4 sugar) and only drink Coke when I'm not drinking coffee. I'm 40. I should be 497 pounds, the unhealthiest person you've ever met, or just plain ol' dead.
But I'm 5'10" 170 pounds. I've got a 6 pack and 14 inch pythons. I'm a germophobe which helps, but I've got an immune system that would make Superman jealous. I smoke weed like most people breath. I enjoy shrooms every now and then. I've never smoked cigarettes and it's probably been 16 years since I've drank alcohol.
I walk 4km (2 1/2 miles) to work in 25 minutes, and walk home after work 5 days a week. I live on the 12th floor in my condo. I walk up and down the stairs going and coming from work, and another up and down every day to walk my dog. My cute little Parker. I work in the steel industry. We have equipment which allows me to decide how much lifting I have to do, but I do more lifting than I have to. A lot of carrying (properly) from different angles with varying sizes targets a lot of muscles.
It's like living 2 crazy polar opposites that somehow balances itself out. Now of course at some point those 2 worlds are going to collide and I'm going to go down in a ball of flames, but such is life.

The shred is going well
231 to about 224/225 shifting. Maybe; 5-7 more lbs to shred before going to maintaining. More concerned about portions and what I see in the mirror that scale. And usually I hit a hard weight pretty quick and it stabilizes. My strength hasn't went down to much in this phase. It went a little; but I think my body is just exhausted usually I give one day buffer between my cardio day and lifting day.

Slowly getting less weak. Still have so far to go to get to near where I used to be, but it's still encouraging. Downside is I'm almost out of weight and finding iron at a reasonable price right now is pretty much impossible. I think I've got about 6-7 weeks before I'm gonna be tapped out and needing more plates

Worked out this morning and feel great for it. I think it's the first time in my life I worked out on a weekend. Not that there's really any significance to that but I've always viewed weekends as automatic off days, so it felt nice to break that mindset for a change.

It's just insane right now. I've never paid more than $1.10/lb for normal Iron or $2/lb for bumpers, but now people are selling Iron on Kijiji for like $4/lb. Just loony tunes. You're dead on about how far off they can be. I know one of my 45s is very far off from the rest. We used to have so many at my old dungeon gym that were way out. Had to mark them all with chalk X's to know which ones were close. Thankfully even cheap bumpers tend to be pretty accurate so my middle of the road bumpers are all fine. I know a couple people in the community here who started manufacturing their own at the start of the pandemic, and they're pretty accurate. But still like $4/lb. 😬

Copy, is there a benefit to going 20 pound over 15, less reps for same result? Please explain. I cant do a pull up. I will try pushups instead. I'd suggest starting with 15lb dumbbells, as it won't strain your tendons/ligaments and you'll be able to perform a larger variety of exercises with them. perhaps down the road you'd like to get 20lb ones, but that's not necessarily needed. a good way to start with pull ups is by just hanging for periods of time, slowly building that time up to start. like the starting point of a pull up. Update: Ive been using 5 pound weights as thats all i have currently and I see a little bit of a diff not much tho still flabby arms lol I'm down to 225 pounds, so down 80 pounds since July. I will continue the push up life and try to do more as I have been slacking. Another update in a month or so. Thanks
