The theme this week seemed to be "Commentators".......
Before we get to the pickups - I had the true privilege of attending the Maryland Championship Wrestling "Tag Wars" event on Sunday night in Joppa, Maryland!
The guests of honor..... Jim Ross & Jerry "The King" Lawler! Also appearing: Booker T and the Nasty Boys!
As I sat down between the two broadcast legends, I reminded them that the last time I saw them together, they wrestled "Coach" & Al Snow at Unforgiven 2003 (I was sitting in the crowd for that match).
"Did we win?" Jim Ross said dryly.....
"No.... Jericho did a run-in & cost you the match." I replied.
"Bastard." Ross said.
MCW had their in-house photographer, Craig Hunter Ross, taking the photos - he's the best in the business. This will be one of my all-time favorites, no doubt!
GEEZ, I nearly forgot that I even had this figure until the morning of the event.... I'd be so mad at myself if I had forgotten completely! Had JR sign my JAKKS Classic Superstar....
I'm thrilled with the signature Jerry Lawler put on this photo I had from a few years back!
And I was shocked when Lawler actually wrestled, I didn't expect him to have a match on the card! Great to see him so full of life!
Next up, Booker T! I didn't really know what to say to him, so I complimented him on his watch.... I think it was an "I-Watch" or something, it looked really cool..... I'm not really up to speed on these things....
I had Booker put his signature on this photo from about a year ago.....
It was pretty cool when Booker T got involved in the main event as the "Special Ringside Enforcer"!
Finally, The Nasty Boys.... this was a really strange meet & greet for me. I know a lot of wrestlers are friendly at these meet & greets - but I think the Nasty Boys actually were mistaken and thought they knew me from somewhere.... they were greeting me as though they hadn't seen me in a while, and Knobbs introduced me to his friend, who he claimed he'd known from "Catholic School"..... it was really strange, but good....
I told them I was afraid that they'd start a streetfight with Booker T being at the next table over..... remembering back to the crazy days of WCW, when Harlem Heat used to battle the Nasty Boys through the concession stands......
Awesome show, please get out and support your local indy feds! You will find some of the hardest working guys on the indy circuit, and I guarantee you'll see something you've never seen before..... the event was highlighted by an awesome match between ROH "Top Prospect" Lio Rush vs. Eddie Smooth!
But - enough about my newest Meet & Greets..... let's get to the pickups!
I've gotta tell all you "Ham & Eggers" that this is probably one of my new favorites in my collection. Heenan was always one of my top 3 favorite characters, and I must say - the detail that Mattel put into this action figure is simply amazing. I was thrilled to find the Heenan Family set was stocked through the Tracker, at my local Target - during the $24.99 sale!
A bit disappointed that Hennig is scaled just like the Legends version.... but I'll survive.....
The Studd figure looks great!
The "Ravishing One".....
Also received my "Big Boss Man" from tru.com.... I know, I'm one of the lucky ones who actually had their order filled! I never found this figure at retail the first time it came out, so I'm really glad I'm finally able to get my hands on one several years later!
The Big Boss Man's feud with Dusty Rhodes was one of the first "feuds" I saw when I first started watching wrestling!
Found a cube at Walmart with a bunch of Easter goodness.....
Walmart also had a shelf of Elites on clearance for $15.... I grabbed an extra Sycho Sid to open..... this is an awesome figure! You might say it "rules the world!"
I gave Sid's vest to Brian Pillman..... I like this "fix-up".....
So....... who is the "Greatest Wrestling Commentator of All Time?"
Thanks for looking!
