I've got a query for anyone with a long memory. When CBT/Rev brought in the Pure Rules for World Championship matches what was the on-screen rationale for introducing that rule and the on-screen rationale for scrapping it? I figure it's a part of the WFWF's history that might be a useful reference point for me with the direction Bishop's going in, but I wasn't paying attention at the time - guess this is a good time to ask with Thunder and Schneider popping up. Introducing it was, in essence, an on screen fix to the scorched earth that Kyzer and Drakz had left behind in the wake of their ownership. If anyone reading isn't aware, back in '06/'07, Drakz and Kyzer were on screen authority figures who did a lot of drugs and sought to dismantle the WFWF and reforge it in their own image, a large part of which was the rebranding of all the titles with names like the Ham Shank title and and the Intergalactic Spaceman Championship (which has been my go to name for the Universal belt, for what it's worth). When they stepped down and Rev and CBT stepped in, the story behind the re-rebranding was that the titles should have prestige and honor that should translate to the pride that champions should have in holding them and all that. As far as scrapping it, I can't recall the specifics off the top of my head, but if I had to wager a guess, I'd go with either poor group reception or new owners stepping in and doing the new owner thing (as almost every new ownership regime has sought to "shake up" the status quo).

Then come back when they realized I didn't burn the place to ashes and decided Thunder and Clavin actually knew what they were talking about when they said I'd be a good owner. Talk about a shake up.

I'm in a boring staff meeting Kill Meeeee Back before I went on permanent disability, if I found myself in a boring meeting I would grab my stomach, make a rumbling sound, and excuse myself to go to the bathroom for a 15-20 minute break. A few times it was a very real biological need but more often than not it was actually just an excuse nobody dared question so I could get away from the infighting and politicking.

Good idea but I already brought my bag to dip out as soon as the meeting ends. If I go to the bathroom, I have to leave my bag behind. So I'd have to go back anyway. 18 more minutes... and then by 430 I'll be starting the new deus ex

I know we've had some real know it alls here, but I never realized that Cliff ever ran the joint </dadjoke> I've actually reread that thread about a thousand times, and as much sh*t as I put you through, you really got the short end there sort of unjustifiably. Sometimes it's less exciting OOC, but the past couple years, this place has probably been at its least toxic. I suppose that's why it warms the cockles of this old man's heart to see a lad like Wolfy have himself a little mini meltdown.

As for the short end, absolutely. Believe me, I knew I wasn't the best writer in the place back then. Even during my world title run I wasn't, I just got lucky. But being the best writer doesn't necessarily mean you'll be the best owner. My success came largely from sonstuds mentoring me but the fact that I was at the time by far and wide the most consistent workhorse. There were a couple of times when Thunder and Trace were swamped and I practically wrote entire shows and left the endings for them to decide. Right now, our owners are two of our best writers. But I will forever choose the person who can do the best work with what he has and be the most productive for the betterment of the fed over the guy who's the best writer overall but has nothing but self interest in mind. And Cliff never ran the place. He was just about the only guy other than Thunder and Bishop who supported my becoming owner. Even McGurk quit.

Ah, talking about people quitting makes me remember the fed I was in before this one. And it's funny to think that with that one, me leaving is pretty much what killed the entire fed, which had been doing well enough at that point to even have a roster/brand split.

Even McGurk quit. lol man Cal was trolling just as much as anyone back then. Ironically it was Al who basically told everyone to stop complaining (and Cal was one of the people he was directing it towards). The out cry over you becoming owner still makes me laugh because it was from people who were either inconsequential or who just came back within like two months.

CBT was a fool and had no idea how to book. Rev didn't care enough to tell him no. It was pretty much thrown out when the second PPV title match was a no rope barbed wire match, and I won the title and wasn't willing to do nonsense pure rules matches.

So after consulting with my British half, I've decided to take my ENTIRE OPENING and reword it into an intro monologue.
Yay for editing.

I just found out that a word that wasn't censored two rps ago is censored again, so at some point I'm gonna have to move my entire rp to my PC from my phone and run a find and replace before I can post it. And I've got to finish it. I'm not saying I'll cash in on it, but are we just assuming that agreed upon extension is applying to all four of us? Drakz? jdfranchise? bad guy™?

All this talk about ownership runs makes me remember my run when we had to make the judging panel because people didn't trust my judgement on matches.
I would never want to run this place again...
