Couldn't care less about Harper at this point. Hi hater.

You’d think they signed Trout the way these Philly fans are reacting. No matter how you look at it, this is a BIG signing for Philadelphia. On paper, this Phillies team is stacked pretty well. It’ll be an exciting season at CBP. Something we haven’t experienced in close to a decade. This. All of it. #truth Biggest FA to hit the open market in MANY years. And when every one hit the market in the past, we were never in a position to get them. Now that we were this off-season, and we landed the big fish of FA, it's HUGE. And the reactions come with the territory. Deal. With. It.

Awesome. I'm really excited that less than a week after signing Aaron Hicks to a 7-year extension, he's already dealing with a back injury. This guy is ALWAYS hurt. With the Yankees: 2016: 123 games played. 2017: 88 games played. 2018: 137 games played. He's always got some kind of oblique strain, back issue, hamstring strain.... But ya know, Bryce Harper who played at least 147 games 3 out of the last 4 years (159 games last year). Yanks really missed the boat not signing Harper. Really could have used the left handed power bat.

Yeah they look especially good with the 4 or 5 guys they added, it’s not just adding Harper. Just in general some of the reactions I’ve seen seem a little over the top. It's because Harper is the piece that really pushes the Phillies into being a legitimate contender - not just in the East, but the NL in general. Cutch, Doobs, Realmuto, Harper, Segura, Hernandez, Hoskins, and Franco is a legit lineup on paper with Franco and Herrera being the only real question marks. If both of them can pull it together, and Hoskins doesn't regress, that is a very scary lineup. Harper crushes the ball at CBP, and playing 81 games there, he can absolutely abuse the short porch in right. I don't think 45 HRs/120-125 RBI is out of the question. It's also a relatively young core that could stay together for 3-4 years if everything gels right. The one thing we really need is one more legit starter in the rotation. I'm really excited about what Pivetta could do this year, and if Nola can even come close to what he did last year, we're in great shape. But I can forsee Arrieta falling off the cliff this year, and don't really have faith in Eflin or Velasquez to deliver consistently, even if the potential is there. I'm weary on biting on Keuchel unless it's a more short-term, team-friendly deal. So that basically leaves waiting until the trade deadline to do something significant there. Could also use at least one more really good bullpen piece (not Kimbrel). But yeah, this is the most excitement I've seen about the Phillies since 2011.

Bryce had 2 ABs today, drew 2 walks. Used the Fresh Prince theme as his walk-up. Which is rad.

Jose Canseco wants to fight A-Rod Jose, what a goon. I dislike A-Rod probably more than any major leaguer but Jose Canseco is just meathead wishing he was still in high school getting nerds to do his homework and looking for attention. What a basket case.

Bryce is already a failure in Philadelphia. Great recruitment. Now everyone can shut up about Trout going there.

Angels extend Mike Trout for 10 years/$360 million Wild extension. He is THE player of our generation though, some others follow close behind but he's really a complete player and worth it. Doing it all with subpar teams for years too. His AAV is fair too over time. Not sure what they can do this year but it would be a shame to waste Trout, again.

Happy Annual "One Week Before Opening Day so Greg Bird is Getting X-Rays" Day!
Elbow injury. I'm sure this will linger for months. Thank God for Voit.

Chris isn't on Sale. Red Sox extend him for 5 years/$150 million And the Cardinals struck Gold-schmidt. Just terrible. I love these extensions! Nice to see fair value, longevity and less drama in free agency.

Blue Jays trade Kendrys Morales to the Oakland As. They should bring back Jose Bautista to be the DH.
