Can’t believe it was the Rays of all teams that swept them. Baseball is really weird sometimes. Could be a lot worse. They swept the Yanks too earlier in the year. True, it could’ve been the Orioles.

Phillies got Jose Bautista even though they have enough 1B/OF/DH types

Yeah, I think he's just a bat for the last month of the season. Don't see any chance he stays once FA starts.

Maybe the Phillies hitters will start doing batflips as well.

I'm kinda surprised that Atlanta was able to get Lucas Duda for only "cash considerations".
I was kinda hoping the Yankees would get him, or maybe they can get Smoak because clearly Bird is not working and as good as Voigt has been the last week, I don't think that's going to last. Since 2016 the Yankees have been DEAD LAST of all MLB teams in production by first basemen. They need to find a permanent solution to this, but a higher caliber rental might help you as you try and make a Postseason push.
Also depending on if Judge is not coming back or how much loner he's going to be out, they may want to think about getting somebody like Andrew McCutchen as a rental for the rest of the year because he'd be a better option than Shane Robinson, forcing Stanton into the OF, or playing Neil Walker out of position.
And obviously it goes without saying that the Yankees need Sanchez and Didi back ASAP.

im good with Voit until he cools off, who knows...maybe they have something there. Bird at this point should be a part time player...he clearly just sucks.
and they are about to get OF help to replace shane robinson as Red Thunder is beginning his rehab

I would have preferred Smoak over McCutchen, but Yanks did what I said and went out and got him. Probably not a good sign on Judge coming back this year. He'll be a better option out there than Robinson or forcing Walker out of position.
Also, if they would have gotten Smoak if would have solved a problem for next year too because Smoak has a $6 million dollar team option for 2019 and that's pretty cheap considering the damage he could do at Yankee Stadium....Yanks will have to solve 1B a different way in 2019. Bird and Voigt are not the answer. Just gotta get through the rest of 2018 with them I guess....unless Cashman pulls something else off before the end of the day.
I guess they could always send down Bird or Voigt and put Walker at first now that McCutchen I assume is going to be RF.

imagine telling a yankees fan 4-5 years ago that in 2018 the yankees would pick up Andrew McCutchen off the waiver wire for a playoff push

Watching the Red Sox come back from 7-1 to tie all in the 8th inning was fun. Disappointing to see them give up the lead again straight away. Unbelievable the new guy from the minors hits a game winning two-run home run. Sox win 9-8, sweep braves. Next stop...100 wins

Now if only my team could actually win a series that would be great.

The Mets are paying Yoenis Cespedes, David Wright and Bobby Bonilla $50.1 million this year for 141 ABs, 9 HRs and 29 RBIs.

100 wins! My dad, rest his soul, was 4 years old the last time the Red Sox won 100 (1946). Not sure if he would have witnessed but now I have. ..people these days like to think the stats in regular season doesn’t mean a lot. I agree except in baseball.

Yanks are seriously going to blow it and have to play the WC game on the road.
They're going to be 1 and done.

I just want a winning season, is that too much to ask? Same here lmao. My team will be lucky to finish .500. Went from 15 games above to only 3. We don’t really have a chance at the playoffs anymore so I’m just praying for 81 wins lol

On their way to a division crown, and a home-field advantage playoff series. Now they're not only NOT winning the division, but they won't even get a WC and miss out. For the 7th straight year.
