Braves with a five game win streak. It's the little things in life for us. Kind of a surprise, because a few weeks back I was hearing they were going to challenge the 1962 Mets for most losses in modern era.

I suppose that one could say that the Mariners literally threw that win away.

It's been a tough go.for the Cubs lately. The Cards and Pirates worked together to find the 10th generation offspring of the goat. With the Dodgers, Giants, Mets and Nats all playing well enough to win their divisions and the loser take the Wild Card all Central teams need all the help they can get.

I never have believed in the goat. I still don't. Cards did lose last night and I saw a fan run on the field during that game. I wonder who the Cubs might give up for an Andrew Miller. The Giants are also linked to him with speculation about them sending Tyler Beede. There's still tons of baseball left. So while I'm not worried yet, the Cubs must break out of their funk. At least they'll go to Cincy next, but the Fish are on the rise with Fernandez going today.

His critics will say that every October. The Dodgers tried to comeback but it was too late. What a run Justin Turner is on. The turnaround he is having to the month as opposed to the first two months has really been a sight to see. Imagine if the Mets kept him.

Pirates are pretty good in making him look human. I remember last year, he opened the series and did not look good. Dodgers went on to lose all three games.

That was an incredible throw Pederson made to gun down Rodriguez at home.

My dad works security for the Mariners, so if you live in Seattle, don't bring a knife, don't be stupid, seriously every 8th person in that line has a knife. People are dumb sometimes.

Cubs are out to a 3-0 lead. They really need this, but why couldn't they play better against St. Louis and Miami? The Reds are going nowhere. They need to beat good teams. The same goes for the Mets, whom they're playing next. They're playing iffy now too. Where was that last October?
I know a win is a win but they have to beat good teams, too.

They beat a lot of good teams early when the lineup was completely healthy, including the sweep of the Nats. The lineup is in perpetual shift right now with Rizzo and his back and Fowler being out. Contreras is a breath of fresh air. I mean Arrieta is struggling with location right now but he's still 12-2 with a 2.10 ERA. Lester is awesome right now. Arrieta was 10-5 with a 2.66 ERA at the break last year. So even as he struggles, he's excelling. Montero's struggles might land him as odd man out since Gpa Rossy has been great this year and Contreras is going to live up to the hype. La Stella and Szczur have both been great off the bench and you have to think Soler will get back at it through the warmer days of summer where he seems to really get going. This is exactly what they needed. They always struggle against the Marlins and the Cardinals series wasn't pretty, but it was more quiet than usual because they're still sitting comfortably at the top of the division. The bullpen was always an issue that everyone agreed was going to get worked out at the deadline, likewise for an additional rotation guy. I'm curious to see Adam Warren get a shot though. I think he's legit as a back end rotation starter and these spot starts might be good for everyone. Hammel and Hendricks have both had really good first halves though. It's 162 game season. You really can't start worrying about October in June-July. We're all-in this year. It's World Series or bust, but in order to do that they need to keep tacking on wins, against good teams and bad. If this was September, I'd agree with your concern but there is still so much baseball left and the roster isn't going to look exactly the same come the fall anyway. They started off on an incredible run and they were bound to come back down to Earth. You just want them to be clicking again on all cylinders come the end of the year. The playoffs are largely a crapshoot. Good teams go cold, and weaker teams get red hot. The only thing a team can do is get there and then see what happens.
