I don't care if I'm a finely tuned athlete, I'm not going to want to get tossed off of a cage, ladder, whatever; especially to the outside where it's a farther fall.
Shane last night was freaking insane.

I'm curious how tall the cell actually is in comparison to something like Shane falling off the steel beam gimmick against Blackman at SummerSlam. The bumps are obviously different but it'd be interesting to see a comparison. Anyway.. I don't mind the height of the cell unless someone is crazy enough to jump from the top. I really thought he'd just scale the side and elbow drop from the midway point but naw. Dude's got balls of damn steel.

Shane jumping off the backlash stage was higher in my opinion. But him being 47 and stuff is crazy for him to do. Especially if this is the only thing he's here to do. "Hey son! I don't have wrestlers this year and the card is going to be crap. Mind to sacrifice your body one more time for your good ole dad?" Definitely has more balls than most wrestlers on the active roster.

There was definently some sort of pad under the table though There was a pretty thick crash pad he landed on but still, Jumping that high, That still was a crazy ass stunt. |

I had a hard time enjoying that spot. That's not a complaint, I understand why they did it - because they literally had nothing else. The whole show was essentially predicated on that single moment.
But as a fan growing older, seeing Shane McMahon walk to the ring with his young children, and knowing what he was likely going to do, I was sort of dreading it. Of course, I sat with my mouth agape as he ascended the cell, and was in awe when he jumped, but I couldn't enjoy it. I like danger in wrestling as much as the next guy, but I just didn't need to see that spot.
Again, it's not a complaint. I completely get why it was done, and I commend Shane for sacrificing his body and being a willing participant to that mayhem. I just don't need that type of extreme risk anymore. It doesn't do anything for me, and if WWE had done a better job handling Wrestlemania, they wouldn't have needed a stunt like that to sell the show.

If he would of climbed down instead of jumping I would have clapped for him. Instead I didn't clap before, during, or after that spot. The arena was silent. It was scary seeing him up there, and after we all thought he was dead.
Back on topic...the cell is way too high! I was thinking that the whole time. I was saying it looked higher than usual. So when he was about to climb I couldn't imagine what he/they were gonna do up there. Then he was up there all by himself and I kept saying "he better not" 5x. Crazy moment. Kudos to Shane for not dying.

A day later, I'm upset with Shane losing the match, but in the moment, I was more upset with Shane taking that bump. I get why he did - he's Shane McMahon. 'Cero Miedo' is Pentagon Jr.'s shtick, but Shane is the physical manifestation of that phrase. However, I still have a hard time understanding that someone did that with his mom, wife and kids literally feet away. I really hope there's a bigger reason for him working WrestleMania than just doing a memorable spot that he didn't have to.
As for the thread's question, the Cell isn't too high. Shane is too crazy.

I like to know the real measurements of the things Shane has jumped off, the cell and various stages against Kane/Big Show and whoever else.
It's pretty damn crazy he's still up for doing this kinda stuff.

The only problem I had him doing the stunt is him letting his kids witness it. I know he wanted them witness him wrestling. But what if the stunt went horribly wrong and he gotten hurt in front of them? If Shane was serious about a mini return until the summer they should of the match built around Shane vs Triple H. That would of made more sense. Other than that. I see him appearing tonight and thats it. |
