There was definently some sort of pad under the table though The table itself wasn't a table, it was a giant black pad

In regards to height, I kept feeling like Michael Cole was underselling the spot. He kept saying "20 feet in the air!" but, isn't the ring 20x20? There's no way that if you took that cell and turned it on its side, that it would be the length of the ring. It felt significantly higher than that.
I'm used to commentators embellishing stats like height, so to hear Cole very clearly, at least to me, undersell it, was really odd. Then again, commentary was pretty abysmal all night, so I shouldn't be too surprised.

I thought the same thing about the height. Cole usually says that the tall ladder is 20 feet high.
And this fall compared to his other 2. The other 2 he fell flat on his back. This one was like a real elbow drop on his hip.
Even if there was a padded table and a pad underneath. It was still crazy!

I've hated the new Cell ever since it debuted in 2006. The whole point of the cell was to confine two guys to a small space. Making it taller takes away from the appeal of it.

It's not high enough, dammit. I'm surprised they haven't built a super cage, suspended it and called it "Hell in Heaven" or something lol Sounds like something wcw would do Not gonna lie I was afraid he would over shoot the table all together smh Shane's got balls

It will be a long time before we ever see that again hell it might be the last time we ever see that
I think that cell bump was a one and done deal for Mania and since Shane set the bar so high due to stunts he has done before he almost HAD to do that spot off the cell or the whole match would have been a disappointment

There was definently some sort of pad under the table though it looked like they had an inch or two of padding on top of the table to.

I miss the smaller cell. I made the wrestlers feel more cramped in.

Shane has more balls than Jeff Hardy does. Shane looked a bit scared being up there, it was a crazy spot that most people would never do cuz how dangerous and crazy it is.

I had a hard time enjoying that spot. That's not a complaint, I understand why they did it - because they literally had nothing else. The whole show was essentially predicated on that single moment. But as a fan growing older, seeing Shane McMahon walk to the ring with his young children, and knowing what he was likely going to do, I was sort of dreading it. Of course, I sat with my mouth agape as he ascended the cell, and was in awe when he jumped, but I couldn't enjoy it. I like danger in wrestling as much as the next guy, but I just didn't need to see that spot. Again, it's not a complaint. I completely get why it was done, and I commend Shane for sacrificing his body and being a willing participant to that mayhem. I just don't need that type of extreme risk anymore. It doesn't do anything for me, and if WWE had done a better job handling Wrestlemania, they wouldn't have needed a stunt like that to sell the show. This. Totally agreed. We all know danger is an inherent given when it comes to pro wrestling...but danger in the form of a stunt just for the sake of a "Mania Moment" is too much methinks.

No it shouldn't be lower, because people who jump off the top turnbuckle need head room. But there is no reason for anyone to jump off the top of the cell. I didn't need (or want) to see that to be entertained. At least he had mats/cushions to pad his landing. I don't remember Mankind having any when he was tossed from the cell.

Shane fell flat where Foley was tossed. He could've died from that fall.

But that said I still feel it was unneeded for Shane to do that spot.

I'm sure they were terrified seeing their father fall from that height.

Guys were still able to go to the top rope before when the Cell was first constructed and it wasn't as high. I think that they first changed it when they did a 3-on-2 handicap match that had Big Show in the HIAC for the first time.

Agreed, still safer then what Foley was jumping onto Yeah, it was...but the thing was that the Foley bump was not planned, so it was a regular table. This being a pre-planned spot lead to have the table they went through and the one Shane fell onto built with a huge crash-pad. That despite being a crash-pad, it probably hurt him like hell

For what I know (maybe I am wrong) it was pre-planned between the Undertaker and Mick Foley, and the agents...and that was it. I think that if others knew about it when they were putting together, they would have done something to protect Foley from the fall, I mean, he could have died if he went an inch further when he fell...but again, I could be wrong
