I've always hated Billy Kidman for his awful use of the Shooting Star Press.. Easily the worst Shooting Star Press ever performed.. Luckily Evan Bourne came around and showed officials that people CAN do it without risk and potential injury EVERY SINGLE TIME it's done.
Billy Kidman is the reason that SSP was banned for so many years.. It's like the WWE thought "this is the best guy doing it, if he can't safely do it no one can"..

I'm not the biggest Billy Kidman fan myself but I can stand his version of the Shooting Star Press, Evan Bourne's version on the other hand I never really liked, the reason I never liked it is because every time he flips backwards he would normally grab onto his toes and would curl up in a ball & it just looked kind of stupid & cartoony/PG to me. Paul London's version was always my favourite, standing, running off the apron/Kendrick or from the turnbuckle.. and yes to hell with the Billy Kidman!
Add Swagger's Gutwrench Powerbomb & that one finishing move Tyler Rekks performed that slightly resembled John Cena's Attitude Adjustment, heck any move that resembles Super Cena's finishing move in the slightest.

It was banned for a short period of time back in 2008 - when Vicki Guerrero was running smackdown! she temporarily banned the triangle choke/hells gate - so her onscreen boyfriend Edge wouldn't cough up blood in his feud with Taker (so it would give Edge an advantage in the feud).
However when Vicki stepped down as GM (or fired, whatever,,,) - hell's gate became reinstated as a legal move (Taker could use it again)

Thank you for including the video. I honestly did not remember that from the match even though I watched it several times (I probably just registered it mentally as a suplex) so I stand corrected and apologize for one of my earlier posts on this topic. I wonder whether they got special approval, risked getting a fine, or if it the ban was lifted/relaxed because literally every list of banned WWE moves I've seen lists the brain buster right alongside the classic (non-tombstone) pile driver and chair shots to the head.

I alway thought Lesnar was the reason it was banned for a while
I find it odd that no one was legit hurt by either the curb stomp or punt but they're both banned.
Samoa Joe nearly kills a guy with the muscle buster and it's still allowed.
The two banned moves look more dangerous but haven't done any damage, I think the only reason they're banned is because they're moves that little kids could do anD hurt each other.

Nah.. That was the only time Lesnar botched that move believe it or not.
Outside of Evan Bourne, Brock's shooting star was one of the most flawless shooting star's ever performed.. He just made an error that night.
I'm certain no one will ever do the Kinniku Buster. Imagine Samoa Joe's Muscle Buster, but instead of falling back, he sits down like you do in a piledriver.
