I just started customizing wrestling figures and was wondering if anyone had any basic helpful hints on how to customize mattel figures. Something I have been wondering is what is modge podge and how is it used? I see it in the store and have seen it talked about a lot on youtube. What is it and is it essential for customizing? Also how do you decrease the brush strokes in a figure? What is the best technique to use when painting a custom? Thanks in advance for your help. I greatly appreciate any help as I'm trying to customize to the best of my ability.

I'm a newbie too, but I kind of mastered kitbashing as a general rule. With those you heat up the plastic enough for it to pop off without much effort and put it on another body. For that you either use hot water or a blow dryer. I personally like the water method.
As for Mod Podge, it's a sealer that a lot of customizers use including myself. There's varying degrees of finish, but I personally use either matte or satin depending on what's being painted or what's available. As for decreasing brushstrokes, sometimes I go in with a sponge, but alternatively you can do a couple of coats and seal.
