Does anyone in the UK know which postal service would be best for delivering large parcels, currently got a buyer on ebay interested in a buster sword replica, it is 54 inch long, fairly heavy, so it isn't something I can just take down to my local post office and hand over the counter, never posted a large parcel before so I need some advice, was going to go with hermes but their site says they don't deliver any type of weapons.

Why do you have to tell them what is in it?
Parcel Monkey is a comparison site.

Would I need stamps for door to door delivery or do the couriers sort all that out once collected?

Look on the royal mail website for their prices. Measure the length width and depth of you package and compare.

Would I need stamps for door to door delivery or do the couriers sort all that out once collected? Depends on the courier. Don't use Royal mail for anything over 2 kilos or medium size.

Use yodel, dpd or ups, if Hermes don't deliver weapons, don't use them, don't even consider using them and telling them because if it gets damaged or goes missing you'll get no compensation

I use collect Plus. Very good and you get a personal service if things go wrong which is extremely rare.
