Went to the taping in Manchester, NH last night. Pretty enjoyable show, my first televised event in 11 years.
Dark match
Titus O'Neil defeats Tyler Breeze. Didn't do much to get the crowd in the mood. I could take or leave either of these guys.
Main Event
Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson defeated Zack Ryder and Fandango. I expected this to be a total squash, but Ryder got some pretty fair offensive in for how beefed up the BC guys have been portrayed this far on TV. Crowd is dead, but firmly seated behind Ryder. Fandangoed during his entrance, but otherwise seem like they could take or leave him.
Dolph Ziggler defeated Viktor. Total squash, and absolutely nothing to write home about. Ziggy is entirely uninteresting in a match like this, and the Ascension guys are entirely uninteresting all the time. Exactly what I'd expect out of an Main Event match.
Kevin Owens defeated Jack Swagger. Owens is so much fun to watch, especially when he's interacting with the crowd. Such a good heel. Swagger "We, the People"d at least 5 times in this match, and got a false finish in with the ankle lock, but it was otherwise always going to be Owens who walked away from this one.
Smackdown
Pyro and ballyhoo. It's louder than I remembered.
The Guy With the Wettest Hair kicked off the show to a sea of boos, calls AJ Styles out for total being in collusion with Anderson and Gallows. Instead, he gets Miz, who introduces Maryse and says he knew and already said what Reigns has been saying all along. Gets knocked out for his troubles because Reigns is the worst face ever. Champion vs. Champion match is set for that night.
The "mystery team" of Kalisto, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro defeated the League of Nations by count out when Del Rio and Rusev both walked out on Sheamus, who later walked out on the match himself in the stupidest finish ever. Backstage, they bickered and fought and I think Rusev was screaming "I HATE YOU" which was really funny. Cesaro's entrance looks really cool live.
Baron Corbin squashed Sandow, and it was awful. Crowd was firmly behind Sandow, and it made me wish I went through with my "Sandow Section" sign.
AJ Styles told Renee Young that he was going to win the world title on Sunday, and that Reigns better watch out because he'd be at ringside for his match tonght.
Ambrose cut a promo on Jericho at ringside, then hopped in the ring for an Ambrose Asylum segment between Natalya and Charlotte, who bickered over who has the better legacy background. Ric Flair told Natalya to kill herself.
Enzo and Big Cass defeated Bo Dallas and Curtis Axl with the New Day on commentary and the Vaudevillains watching from the stage.
Apollo Crews defeated Stardust in a very boring match that did nothing for anyone.
Backstage, Truth told Goldust that he was starting a new team with Tyler Breeze called The Gorgeous Truth. He had a selfie stick, which was just a phone taped to a tree branch. It was weird.
Roman Reigns looked super strong against the Miz. Reigns confronted Styles at ring side, which turned into a big thing after Reigns went over. Gallows and Andersob jumped Reigns, who got support by the Usos, and they all brawled while AJ stood in the middle of it acting like he had nothing to do with it. The brawl was still happening and clearing out when Owens came out to face Ambrose in a dark match.
Tapings are weird.
